Samsung Electronics today announced the availability of its new slim external DVD writer, the SE-218BB. It is claimed to be the world’s thinnest external optical disc drive with a 14mm height. The Samsung SE-218BB is 18% thinner and 8% lighter than Samsung’s conventional DVD writer. The slim external DVD writer uses the Smart Power technology, allowing it to connect through its single USB port to power the drive and provide AV connectivity. The device also adopts the Buffer Under Run technology to prevent errors that result from writing speeds. The Samsung SE-218BB slim external DVD writer is currently available for $59.99 each.
