AT&T to Take Pre-Orders for Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 edge Starting Feb 23

Samsung Galaxy S7

Samsung Galaxy S7 and its curvier sibling, two of the main stars of this year’s Mobile World Congress, will be available for pre-order on AT&T, starting on February 23.

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have finally been officially announced by Samsung, even though the online world has been getting a taste of them thanks to leaked images for a few weeks, now. AT&T customers have even more reasons to wait for these two flagships, as they come with built-in DIRECTV functionality. Joining them will be the Gear S2 classic smartwatch that sports NumberSync, a feature that syncs your wearable to your smartphone’s mobile number, so that you can send and receive texts, or even place and answer calls, without getting the phone out of your pocket.

“The DIRECTV integration on the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge and Gear S2 classic is the latest example of how AT&T is making your video experience even better. Our customers are getting a unique mobile video experience in the palm of their hand and on their wrist that they can’t find anywhere else,” explained Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Device Marketing and Developer Services, AT&T Mobility.

But what is DIRECTV, more precisely? Assuming that you have a data plan and that you are subscribed to this service, you can stream live TV, as well as your favorite movies, straight to your smartphone, using the DIRECTV app. More over, if you’re watching TV at home using AT&T’s video streaming service, you can use either of the Galaxy S7 smartphones as a remote control, thanks to the Quick Remote feature. As though this wasn’t enough, you can use Samsung’s S-Voice feature to launch the service by speaking into the S7, S7 Edge, or Gear S2 classic.

The Galaxy S7 takes everything that was good about its predecessor and amps it up. Its 5.1″ QuadHD Super AMOLED display is encased in an extremely elegant glass and metal body. The S7 edge, on the other hand, features a 5.5″ curved display that provides a bit more room for apps.

Both phones feature a 12 MP dual-pixel rear-facing camera that performs particularly well in poor-light conditions. To store the photos and videos shot with this camera, users have 32GB of internal storage at their disposal, minus whatever amount that’s taken by the operating system. That can be furthermore complemented with up to 200GB of additional storage in the form of a microSD card.

In terms of battery, the S7 sports a 3,000mAh battery, while the S7 edge packs a 3,600mAh one. Considering the larger display, the additional capacity makes sense entirely. Regardless of which model you’re going to pick, wireless charging comes as a default feature, but you’ll have to buy the pads separately. Yet another great selling point is that the S7 and S7 edge are waterproof.

These three products will hit retail stores on March 11, but AT&T customers can place pre-orders for them starting on February 23. They can do so both online, on AT&T’s website, and in the mobile carrier’s brick-and-mortar stores.

LG G5 : Rumors and possible design

LG-G5-Concept-1

Mobile World Congress 2016 is about to start, and so we start seeing different leaks and concepts for new smartphones around the web. All of these are meant to come up at one point or the other throughout the conference, but the LG G5 we are featuring today is different and special for it is one of the most awaited of them all. Here comes, straight from the designer Vuk Nemanja Zoraja’s mind.

Whenever Mobile World Congress draws near several leaks and proof of concept start showing up featuring some of the devices to be shown at the event itself, and many times the concepts end up being showing the exact features of the products. One of the most awaited designs this year is the LG G5, featuring what looks like a very different and innovative design compared to what we usually see from the Korean brand. It is worth nothing that it does sport some similarities to the most recent iPhones, so we can see some stainless steel covering the smartphone’s sides as a frame. In the back we can see a protecting glass to what looks like the area where the camera will be, but it also keeps the colored leather covers users have grown used to. Users can see at simple glance that they are going for a more elegant design, similar to what they did with the G5. From what we understood based on LG’s comments about the G5, they are preparing a smartphone to compete directly with the much-touted Samsung Galaxy S7.

Based on the rumors going around the web, it would seem that LG are preparing something that would top the impact the G3 and G4 had, and some rumors even speak about the possibility of a completely metallic frame. Other sources also point out it might sport a 5.6 inches QHD screen with a 2560 X 1440 pixels resolution. The brain behind this smartphone is going to be the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64 bits, featuring an Adreno 530 video chip. When it comes to the cameras, it will feature a frontal 8 MP one for big selfies and video conference in high quality, along with a back camera sporting impressive 16 MPs. This concept also shows a USB Type-C port and speakers.

All rumors aside, it is confirmed that we are going to see LG’s new smartphones at Mobile World Congress, and that the LG G5 is going to be among them. We probably don’t need official confirmation that the Korean giant is going to surprise and amaze everyone in it.
