World’s (Allegedly) First Vine Resume Goes Viral

Love it or hate it, it looks like Twitter’s Vine has managed to attract a pretty solid following ever since its launch. Time will tell if it’ll become as big of a fixture in the social media sphere as Instagram, but for now, it’s sure getting a lot of attention – particularly because people like Dawn Siff are finding unusual and creative ways to use the platform.

Vine Resume

Dawn is a former political director for Fox News Radio and she’s looking for a new job. Instead of sending out a resume, she decided to post one on Vine. A lot of work went into creating her quirky six-second resume, which reportedly took four hours to shoot and caused the pre-mature destruction of two lightbulbs.

Check out her resume for yourself:

Siff says: “We might have done 10 or 12 takes and a few practice rounds. We had to get the lighting right. We experimented with putting the iPhone on a tripod.”

She hasn’t gotten any formal job offers yet, although I expect she will soon, since her Vine resume has gone viral and all.

Man Puts Himself Up For ‘Sale’ on Amazon–His Asking Price? A Job!

This is Philippe Dubost, and he’s putting himself up for sale on Amazon. At least, that’s what he made it look like anyway.

What you see above is a screenshot of Philippe’s resume, and it’s definitely one of the most creative ones we’ve seen so far. He’s a web product manager, so it make sense that he’d choose this medium to show off his skills and qualifications. Obviously, the listing isn’t really up on Amazon (I’m sure they wouldn’t allow it anyway). Rather, it’s hosted on Philippe’s own domain, and he’s dubbed the page as an ‘Amaz-ing Resume’. Amaz-ing…get it?

The whole resume is based on Amazon’s product listing layout with a few obvious modifications. The fun part is that Philippe even inserted a couple of ads to the page just to make it look more like an actual Amazon listing. But just in case someone didn’t get what he was trying to do, he added a short note to the footer:

This website was made in Jan 2013 by Philippe Dubost for the sole purpose of a playful and creative job search. No copyright infringement intended.

This unusual resume might not be for everyone, so Philippe included a link to his LinkedIn page where you can check out his credentials the typical (and more boring) way.

Vizify offers free infographics all about you, makes you feel like a big shot

Infographics. The stuff of high turnover websites and news channels, right? Well, yes, but now you can bring the same white space and pastel shades to your own internet footprint, courtesy of free infographic web app Vizify. It's still in its trial period for now, which means you'll have to wait for an entry code to tap into the breezy visualization generator, but we managed to plug in as many social networks as we could to see how it all works. The service is definitely centered around those that are very connected to the internet. Vizify will draw information from Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare, LinkedIn and also connect through work-based websites you add yourself. It will then populate a clickable front page with circles including images, quotes and links to your profile elsewhere. The service, which is geared at recruitment, crafts a convenient short link to offer up on resumes or job emails. Edit options include a choice of color palettes, and the ability to tweak the layout of the information circles [seen above] and the larger pages that follow it, bringing either more career-centric (or interesting) content to the forefront. Sign up for an access code at the source to give it a try for yourself, or take a stalker-esque trip down an Engadget editor's social network tracks at the second link below.
