iPhone 7: Bigger Screen, Same Size

Little is known about the upcoming iPhone 7, but fanboys round the globe are crossing fingers it’s something more revolutionary than evolutionary of the iPhone 6. This concept by Eduardo Guerrero is in keeping with Apple’s late design language of “bigger is better” but isn’t actually any bigger! The screen, however, IS. iPhone 7 features a frameless front where all that extra space has been taken over by usable screen. The device itself maintains a similarly dimensioned size of 5.51 x 2.63 x 0.25 inches. But where does that home button live without the frame? Well, it’s gone digital with built-in touch ID. Oh, lest we forget… wireless charging! All things considered, it’s perhaps the most minimal iPhone yet.

Audeze Sine Lightning Cable Headphones Pave the Way for iPhone 7

Audeze Sine Lightning Cable Headphones

Having heard that Apple might drop the 3.5mm audio connector starting with the iPhone 7, Audeze developed yet another pair of headphones that use a Lightning connector, and unveiled them last week at CES 2016 in Las Vegas.

Advertised as the world’s first on-ear planar magnetic headphones, Audeze Sine a brilliant piece of technology that have been adapted to be used with Apple’s upcoming iPhone 7. Designed in collaboration with BMW DesignWorksUSA and showcased at CES 2016, the Sine headphones are the lightest of Audeze’s headphones, weighing just 230g, but there’s really more to them than just the extreme portability.

At first, it may seem like a very stupid decision to replace an universal connector such as the 3.5mm with a proprietary one (i.e. the Lightning connector). People thought that Apple is doing this just to spite both smartphone and headphone makers, pretending that the final goal is to make the iPhone slimmer. Well, that’s true, as the 3.5mm port’s bulkiness prevented not just the iPhone, but pretty much every other smartphone out there from getting thinner. Still, how much thinner can smartphones get while still maintaning a decent battery life?

Secondly, Apple says that the 3.5mm port takes much more space than it would have you think, as it goes deep inside the phone, whereas the Lightning connector is far more compact. Not at last, Apple claims that the 3.5mm port prevents it from making waterproof iPhones. Well, Sony has been waterproofing its flagships for five years now, and guess what, they all have 3.5mm ports. Whether the existence of the 3.5mm connector is beneficial or not is still debatable, but my personal opinion is that Apple is trying to create its own ecosystem that includes only accessories that they approve of.

Here’s a fragment of Audeze’s press release that announced the debut of the SINE planar magnetic headphone at CES 2016:

“The SINE headphones feature Audeze’s renowned Fluxor® planar magnetic technology with Fazor® Elements and Uniforce® Diaphragms to provide a highly efficient yet lightweight headphone, with very low distortion, good bass, a seductive midrange, crisp extended high frequencies, and excellent imaging.

Audeze’s fully integrated Apple Lightning cable is also an option for the SINE headphones. The exclusive Lightning cable streams a complete 24-bit digital signal through a high quality DSP and DAC to offer better sound quality directly from the iPhone. The built in microphone can be used for phone calls or Skype and is SIRI compatible.”

To pre-order the Sine on-ear planar magnetic headphones, head over to Audeze’s website and get ready to shell out $499.95, as this is how much these jewels cost. If it makes you feel any better, the Audeze EL-8 Titanium cost $800, which is more than what the iPhone 7 will probably be.

As an audiophile (since I assume that this is who Audeze is targeting with its products), do you think it’s OK to invest that much in a pair of headphones that can only be used with Apple’s products?

iPhone 7 Plus: What Improvements Is Apple Bringing Forth?

iphone-7-features

One of the most awaited smartphones of the year, the iPhone 7 Plus: battery, storage, and even more raw power. Read all about it in this story!

Apple’s next brainchild, the iPhone 7, is one of the most awaited mobile devices for this year. This new beast will come with many new features and updates, among them increased storage space and a high-power battery.

We have been following the latest rumors about the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus for a while, and it seems they will come with many new ideas and new concepts. For starters, it might not even have a headphone jack, so it will be the thinnest iPhone yet. In its place, the iPhone 7 might feature just one USB Lightning port. When it comes to screen sizes, the normal version might feature a 4.7 inches one while the Plus would instead be around 5.5 inches – still, there are more surprises when it comes to these two smartphones.

The first bit of news hints that the storage capabilities might be greatly increased. These new smartphones will come with some 256 GB of internal memory, making the iPhone the smartphone with the biggest storage unit until now. The second huge bit of new is that the new iPhone’s autonomy will be greatly increased, featuring a 3100mAh battery on the iPhone 7 Plus, which represents a 12% increase when compared to the iPhone 6 Plus, its direct predecessor.

We don’t quite know whether the new iPhones will only feature these huge storage units only on the Plus version, or if it will also be available in the smaller editions. The rumor mill claims that Apple are finally going to stop production of all 16GB models favoring bigger sizes, pretty much offering the storage capabilities of a small hard drive in the palm of our hands.

When it comes to the battery, though, it would seem that Apple are still attempting to make slimmer, thinner phones which would in turn mean its autonomy would not be greatly increased and would likely stay about the same.

We have no doubts that the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be one of the most talked and discussed devices of the year, when it comes to smartphones, being the Plus version the clearly superior one for offering huge storage capabilities and a somewhat increased battery life in the Cupertino company’s history, yet, is this enough to sway you over? iPhone 7, already!

i7_01

The only thing more exciting than an Apple iPhone release is one that looks entirely different than the last. That was NOT the most recent reveal (except for that random rose gold color addition to the space gray, silver and gold options). Alas, it’s only been a handful of days since the announcement of the 6s and imaginations are already running wild about next year’s 7. For instance, Dusan Djokic’s iPhone 7 concept looks to be even thinner, slightly more seamless and with never-before-seen rounded top and bottom ends. You might even say it’s aesthetically closer to the 5. So whaddya think, fanboys?

iPhone 6s: First leaked pictures!

iPhone 6s 1

Apple are not announcing anything officially yet, but some pictures have been making the rounds showing what the next iPhone series might look like. This new iPhone should be coming out in december, and although it seems to sport similar aesthetics, the inside seems completely beefed up.

Our colleagues at 9to5Mac have began showing the pictures of what will become either the iPhone 6s or iPhone 7, succesor of the iPhone 6. This website is famous for this type of leaks and have a great track record, and these pictures would fit Apple’s timeline, but several outlets around the web are theorizing Apple themselves might have leaked these pictures.

When it comes to new features, the rumors claim this new iPhone, whatever its name might end up being, will feature the Force Touch technology which we already know from the latest MacBooks and the Apple Watch.

Depending on the strenght applied on each single touch of the screen or trackpad, the software might react differently. In the case of the Apple Watch, for example, a harder touch opes new options within the different apps.

The Force Touch integration might finally make the home button go away for good, finally sending the TouchID fingerprint reader to the screen itself.

When it comes to aesthetics, the first thing that stands out is that this device doesn’t seem to feature dual camera. Despite this, it is expected that Apple will use sensors to somehow improve the quality of each picture.

Another thing that remains is the classic Lightning connector. As opposed to other Apple products, it won’t use the much talked about USB-C, favoring the classic connector instead.

Different outlets across the web speculate that the iPhone 6s will feature the new A9 processors, and have 2 GB RAM to make these devices even faster. Furthermore, it seems they are also considering to incorporate 4G LTE to increase navigation speed, or at least enhance it.
