New Ostrich Pillow Light Is More Portable, Still Strange

Some of you may remember the extremely popular Ostrich pillow from a year ago. Aside from making you look completely stupid, it did allow you to nap just about anywhere in relative comfort. It was so popular, in fact, that the company made new designs and the one pictured above is the third generation: the Ostrich Pillow Light. Now, instead of being big and ungainly, covering your entire head and hands, the Ostrich Light covers only your eyes and ears. It is consequently much more portable.

The Ostrich Pillow Light is made from soft fabric filled with silicon-coated micro-beads. The addition of an adjustable elastic ring means it can be tailored to suit an individual regardless of their head size.

The smaller design means the Ostrich Pillow Light is travel-friendly and can be carried easily. It can be worn as a scarf, tied to a bag, or packed flat in luggage until it needs to be used, at which point it is worn over the eyes and ears, blocking out light and noise from the world around you.

Napping, when done properly, is one of the most invigorating practices and any tool that helps us to that is fine by us. Better yet, the price on this pillow is more than reasonable at $44.

Spacepod-like Capsules Are Just For Naps

It’s no secret that taking a nap can increase productivity. And although a nice 2 hour nap is often best (seeing as you can go through all stages of sleep), taking two hours off work to nap isn’t usually encouraged. But power naps are different, and even at 20 or 30 minutes, you can still feel refreshed. So a company decided to create a special pod made specifically to facilitate nap taking. Called CalmSpace and designed by one Marie-Virginie Berbet as a prototype for France Telecom, it is now a real product that forward thinking companies worldwide are free to purchase. It contains a bed and a set of orange lights that dim as you enter, and blue ones that slowly wake you up after a specified period of 10, 15 or 20 minutes. There are speakers to provide soothing sounds as well, which we assume coordinate with the lighting sequence.

No word on price.

Ostriches are known for burying their heads in the sand and now you can bury your head (and hands) in the bizarre Ostrich Pillow. This odd pillow lets you pull it over your head and take a nap anywhere. Clearly not for the claustrophobic or people who need to breathe freely (yes there is a hole for your mouth and nose). On the other hand, it could work as a nice sound muffler for snorers. You can even slip your hands in there for extra something (warmth? comfort? not sure really why you would, but you can):
