Red Wine Milkshakes: Is Red Robin Is Tokin’ on Something Serious?

There are a lot of things that should be made into milkshakes. Classics flavors like butterscotch and chocolate are always welcome, and I even once had a really, really good balsamic milkshake. It was made with real, syrupy, aged balsamic, not the imitation that you see in most grocery stores. Very good stuff. What I don’t think anyone ever asked for was a red wine shake, because that sounds really awkward.

If done very deftly, it could possibly be good, but it seems like the kind of thing that a very brave chef would get commended for trying on Chopped right before he or she was sent home packing.

But despite it sounding like a disaster waiting to happen, burger chain Red Robin is making one anyhow. The shake is made with Little Black Dress Divalicious red wine, Pinnacle Whipped vodka, raspberry purée, and vanilla soft serve. Now I haven’t tried the wine in question, mostly because, as a man, I don’t find myself attracted to things marketed as “Divalicious,” but if it has the right balance this could work, but I’m not going to try it on my own dime.
