Taco Phone Stand

taco phone stand Taco Phone Stand
I’m pretty sure this isn’t exactly what you would think of when you say “taco stand”. But it is, technically. Actually it’s a Tako Phone Stand, a “tako” being a Japanese takosen. A takosen is an octopus dumpling with eggs, sauce, mayo, and fish flakes in between a pair of crackers. Kinda like a Japanese version of a taco, more or less (it’s an Osaka specialty).

You can use this stand for your phone in both portrait and landscape mode. Just prop your phone up on the egg and let the tako hold it upright for you. It looks real. Really weird that is. Taco Tuesdays will never be the same.

Review: Felix MonkeyOh Charging Dock

felix monkeyoh in use Review: Felix MonkeyOh Charging Dock
If you recall back almost a year ago, we covered this before it was released. Well now the Felix MonkeyOh Review: Felix MonkeyOh Charging Dock is loose in the wild- the wilds of the retail world that is. What this phone dock does is quite simple (and cute)- it’s a monkey that holds your phone and your charging cord. Simple as that. Your phone slides neatly into his monkey hands (or his arms if you’re using something a bit bigger than an iPhone) while his legs hold it up.
felix monkeyoh Review: Felix MonkeyOh Charging Dock
The MonkeyOh requires one of those square iPhone USB charging plugs that comes with every iPhone (but then you can plug any USB cord into that) which slides perfectly into his back. You plug your USB cord into his mouth, wrap any excess cord around his back, and thread the gadget plug side end of your cord up between his legs. What you get is a cute monkey phone holder. We only tested it with iPhones (4S and 5) here because that’s all we have (baaaaaa) but his hands were a perfect fit for those devices.

The Felix MonkeyOh is made of plastic and is extremely easy to use. We like that. It keeps your cords wrapped up neatly and doesn’t leave the business end dangling in mid-air. We like that. He holds your phone perfectly while charging, keeping counters clutter-free. We like that. It’s lightweight and portable. We like that. There’s really no negatives (maybe a half point deduction for requiring an Apple plug?) And it’s whimsical and useful. We like that. Overall review: we monkey like it.

W+W Organizer

We really like the simplicity and functionality of the W+W Organizer. Designed by Oliver Franz, it combines wood and white ceramic materials. The tray around the pencil cup lets you stash small items like paper clips, thumbtacks, and erasers. The memo pad has a clip to hold small notes (size A7 paper). There’s also a groove to hold your iPhone 4 or 5 in portrait or landscape mode. Here’s the really smart part- there are two cutouts to hold your charging cord in place when it’s not being used.

Hotel Porter Phone Stand

hotel porter phone stand Hotel Porter Phone Stand
The hotel porter is used to carting around your heavy bags (why exactly did you pack so many shoes anyway?) so it’s no problem for this Hotel Porter Smartphone Stand to hold a phone. Don’t worry, this little man in a uniform is made of polyresin so he won’t break a sweat. And the best part is that you don’t have to tip him. Well, you could but you’d look pretty silly tipping a figurine.

Combine two of your favorite things into one with these Smartphone Food Stands Food Stands for Smartphones. Each one is designed to look exactly like an appetizing food item that bizarrely holds your phone upright. The holding your phone part isn’t strange, the fact that it’s a food item doing the holding is. At least for me.

The KeyProp is a super portable smartphone stand that you can take with you anywhere right on your keyring. In fact, it’s just like a key except that the teeth actually fit into either a 3.5mm headphone jack or lightning connector and it props up your phone. To adjust the angle, just slip more keys underneath it. The KeyProp is made of durable polycarbonate with a rubberized exterior and designed to fit almost any smartphone, even with cases on. Currently it’s a KickStarter project but at press time it seems likely to make it to production.

MonkeyOh, Cord Holding Charging Monkey

monkeyoh holder MonkeyOh, Cord Holding Charging Monkey
Meet MonkeyOh by Felix, the adorable monkey that holds your cords. If there’s one thing monkeys are known for it’s being neat and not making a mess- obviously the term “monkeying around” is a misnomer. Your cord wraps around him and his tiny monkey hands hold your smartphone while his monkey “backpack” holds your Apple power plug (which you’ll need, whether you use an iPhone or some other USB charging phone). The USB goes into his monkey mouth and no monkey business, you’re charging. It even works as a monkey stand without the plug. That’s one funky monkey.
