Apple Announces Beta Versions of iOS 13.3.1 and macOS Catalina 10.15.3

Beta Versions of iOS 13.3.1 and macOS Catalina 10.15.3

Apple has just announced its third beta of iOS 13.3.1, and a new beta of its desktop OS, macOS Catalina 10.15.3 beta 3. It is not clear at the moment what the new updates entail. However, one can safely assume that both the beta versions will include important bug fixes and performance improvements. The final version of these operating systems will be launched in February, probably at the same time.

Installing beta versions can cause many issues

Apple users shouldn’t install beta versions of operating systems because they are specifically meant for developers. Developers usually test and launch applications once all performance issues are sorted. Apple advises regular users to wait until download notifications appear on their computers. Installing beta versions may cause instability and some users have reported data loss as well. Even testers should install these on secondary devices instead of on their primary devices.

Apple’s regularity in releasing new OS might be a marketing strategy

Apple has consistently been releasing newer versions of its operating system. But the reason why it has taken so much interest is its competitors do not release updates so frequently. This gives Apple a competitive edge. When rivals are also catching up with features and performance, ensuring that regular software updates are released is a smart marketing strategy. It is a tried and tested scheme that has always worked in Apple’s favor.

Before installing beta versions here is what you need to keep in mind

  • If you are as a regular user, do not install any beta versions of the OS. Wait for the public version in February
  • If you are a tester, do not install the beta on your primary device. Install it one a secondary testing device
  • Beta versions of OS can result in data loss. Make sure to backup everything even on your testing device
  • Certain enhancements can cause issues in older versions of applications. Developers need to be cautious while testing.

Final updates are coming next month

Apple plans to release the final versions of these applications next month. That release will likely include improvements from the beta versions, with a few additional features. One needs to wait and watch in order to find out what the new updates will feature.

It’s the 36th Anniversary of Apple’s Macintosh

36th Anniversary of Apple's Macintosh

Exactly 36 years ago, Steve Jobs announced the first Macintosh computer to the world, during a time when personal computing was still in infancy. The Mac was announced at Apple’s annual shareholder’s meeting. In other words, it's the 36th Anniversary of Apple's Macintosh today. This legendary machine became popular all around the world due to its perceived stylishness, user-friendliness, and accessibility.

In fact, many had predicted then that the Mac would definitely surpass computers made by other companies. The first model seems like a toy when we compare it with the MacBooks and iMacs of today. Yet, this particular model released on the 24th of January, 1984, set the stage for personal computing as we know it today.

The Macintosh came with the following features:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zfqw8nhUwA&feature=emb_logo

  • A 9-inch black and white display that surprisingly seemed beautiful to just stare at
  • An 8MHz Motorola 68000 processor that seems like an antique today
  • 128KB of RAM, which seems crazily absurd when compared with modern processors
  • A 3.5-inch floppy drive that mat youngsters today wouldn’t have seen at all
  • A hefty price of $2,495
  • It was advertised as a graphics package that comes with a mouse

We need to remember that even a mouse was a novelty in those days. In addition, word processing programs were unheard of, and Macintosh truly seemed magical.

Macintosh maybe expensive even today, but commands a huge market

36th Anniversary of Apple's Macintosh

$2,495 was a very huge price in those days, and that figure would have amounted to $6,000 today. In spite of such a heavy price tag, Apple managed to sell more than 70,000 Macs by May 1984. There is a theory that Apple sold so many devices in such a short period of time due to its 1984 Super Bowl ad.

Currently, there are 18 million or more Mac machines being used by dedicated Apple fans. Apple’s competitors have all gone out of business, and this company has managed to retain not only its business but also the market share. In the future, Apple may lose this privileged status if it does not fix what ails it. However, with the recent trend of releasing multiple updates in a short span of time, Apple may very well continue to hold sway over its users.

The latest leaks of the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus suggest that the earbuds will come to win white, black and light blue. Similar details were shared by other leakers such as XDA last month. The leaks also suggest that the earbuds will have left and right buttons, which will be located in the charging case.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus packs in a number of features

As the Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus
will come with a bigger battery, it will last for more than 12 hours. It also
comes with many audio quality improvements. However, the earbuds will not see
active noise cancellation. The leakers also claim that the earbuds will be 50%
more expensive than previous models and that is going to be quite exorbitant
for most people.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus is
known for its unique clarity and power. Most people purchase these earbuds to
use alongside their phones and tablets. It is not clear when they will actually
arrive in the market. However, when they do, they will surely be accepted by
users as one of the most attractive earbuds in the market.

Here are some of the unique advantages of Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus

  • The new earbuds are very ergonomic and fit into the ears very well.
  • They are also comfortable to wear and do not fall out easily.
  • The Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus is made from high-quality material, making the earbuds last for a long time.
  • The earbuds are also stylish and look great on the user if they choose to wear them outside.

Samsung tries hard to conquer a burgeoning market

Samsung has been on a spree lately and has launched a number of products, including an unrelated garment cleanser. In addition, Samsung's Galaxy S20 will arrive on the market soon. S20's specs were unveiled a little while ago too, and the smartphone is expected to be very powerful and feature-rich.

The S20 will, of course, be compatible with these new earbuds and will be a great way to interact with all kinds of media. Samsung has had to fight with a number of competitors in recent months. Huawei is growing rapidly, and so is OnePlus and other Asian giants. Though Samsung had initially envisioned Apple as its major competitor, things seem to have changed quite drastically. Coincidentally, leaker Ishan Agarwal's claims seem quite realistic.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Specs Are Out, and They Are Impressive

black Samsung phone

New details of the Samsung Galaxy
S20 smartphones are out, and the specifications look quite impressive. There
are going to be three models: Galaxy S20 5G, Galaxy S20 Plus 5G, and Galaxy S20
Ultra 5G. They are all going to be launched on the 11th of February. Android 10
will power these 3 new models and they are likely to run on Samsung one UI 2.0
as well.

What the Samsung Galaxy S20 specs are like

The Galaxy S20 5G will sport a 6.2 display, an Exynos 990 7nm chipset, 128GB of storage and MicroSD storage of up to 1TB. The other two models will have similar specifications but the difference truly lies in the screen size. The S20 Plus 5G will be flanked by a 6.7-inch screen, while the S20 Ultra 5G will sport a humongous 6.9-inch screen. While the Ultra will sport 3 rear cameras, a 10x optical zoom, and 100x digital zoom, the other two models will have 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom.

All the 3 models will boast of 8K
recording. S20 5G will run on a 4,000mAH battery, while the S20 Plus 5G will be
powered by a 4,500mAH battery. The Ultra model will have a much larger battery
of 5,000mAH. All the models are also water resistance, with IP68 Water
Resistance.

While the new specifications are quite impressive, more details are required to make a complete assessment of the smartphones' specs. For the moment, the cameras seem to be quite impressive, as are the screens and battery. There is no information about the price or the phones’ performance.

Samsung has many competitors this time around

Samsung has had to fight off a number of competitors in recent years. While initially, only Apple was its major competitor, the Korean giant has several rivals right in Asia. OnePlus, Huawei and other companies have been eating into the company's profits and market share across Asia and elsewhere. If these Samsung Galaxy S20 phones aren't a success, the company will have more worries than just Apple's iPhones to deal with.  This is probably why the company is taking the familiar approach of large screens, powerful cameras, and other impressive features.
