Akitio has announced the availability of their new 4-bay Thunderbolt 3 storage enclosure, the Thunder3 Quad. Ideal for consumers and professionals who desire high speed external storage and/or video streams in one connection, the Thunder3 Quad is built with two Thunderbolt ports (the second port operates the same as a Thunderbolt 3 computer port by supporting Thunderbolt 3 (up to 5 daisy chained, USB 3.1 (10Gbps) and DisplayPort devices) and a dedicated DisplayPort connector for additional monitor to expand the workspace.

Featuring an ultra durable aluminum casing, the Thunder3 Quad comes equipped with a Kensington security slot and a built-in cooling fan, and can house up to four 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch hard drives or SSDs (w/ removable trays). Coming in both 256GB and 512GB capacities, these ultra-high-speed portable SSDs are equipped with a high-grade aluminum enclosure, a Thunderbolt connector and promise to deliver read and write speeds of up to 713MB/s and 414MB/s, respectively. Akitio is preparing to release their newest portable SSD, the Neutrino Thunderbolt Edition. Coming in 120GB of capacity (Intel 330), this fanless 2.5-inch portable SSD is equipped with a Thunderbolt connection interface, an integrated aluminum heatsink body with excellent heat dissipation and capable of delivering read and write speeds of up to 464MB/s and 311MB/s, respectively.
