This Alarm Rug Won’t Turn Off Unless You Step On It

rug-alarm-clock

Look, we’re all for snoozing our alarm clocks until the cows come home, but your boss might see it another way. There’s a number of products on the market to help you fight the almost irresistible appeal of the endless snooze cycle, and the Ruggie is one of the nicer one’s we’ve come across. It’s a pressure sensitive rug that contains a loud alarm that won’t turn off unless you step on it for 3 seconds. You can load your own custom tones, and set the wake up time through hidden buttons on the side. The soft memory foam will cushion your feet as you step out of bed and launch you onto a productive day, right on time.

It’s a $79 pledge on Kickstarter, with the price going up to $99 once it hits retail. Delivery is in September of 2016.

This Alarm Clock Slaps You Awake

Face-slapping-Alarm-Clock-by-Simone-Giertz-Featured-image-672x372

Hot on the heels of the alarm clock that physically tosses you out of bed comes news of the alarm clock that slaps you awake. Because placing your alarm out of reach and forcing yourself to stand up isn’t good enough for some, electronics tinkerer Simone Giertz created The Wake-Up Machine, a device that literally slaps your face in the hopes of getting you out of bed. “It is a composition of a rubberized fake arm, a standard alarm clock and a powerful brushed DC motor that runs at 165 rpm rigged to an Arduino UNO.” Watch the video below to get a breakdown of what Simone’s made.

SensorWake Alarm Wakes You Up With Nice Scents

sensorwake-1

Typical alarm clocks rely on loud, jarring sounds to wake you up. It’s effective, but it’s also a pretty rough way to get your day started. Guillaume Rolland, an 18-year-old French entrepreneur, thought there was a better way to go about it and created SensorWake. It’s an alarm clock that releases a scent, and in testing is able to wake 99% of people up within 2 minutes. Scents are stored in special replaceable pods, and range in variety from “Continental breakfast: Espresso & Hot Croissant” to “Candy Rush: Sweet peach & Strawberry candy”. If you fail to wake up after 3 minutes, then SensorWake will revert to a backup audible alarm so you don’t miss your important meeting. Each scent pod lasts up to 60 times. You can get in on the action with an $89 pledge, which includes a 2-capsule pack.

World’s Worst Alarm Clock Could Actually Be The Best

ALARMclock

Alarm clocks are supposed to wake you up. But depending on where you stand in life, the ALARMclock can either also fill your day with a sense of delight and motivation, or just depress you to death. See, when you first set it up you’re supposed to enter a wealth of information onto its related application. That data involves passwords to your social networks, bank accounts, investments and anything else you chose to provide it. Then you determine which one of these datasets it displays to you as you waken. Want to know how many days you have left to live? It’ll display that, based on a calculation centered on your current age, lifestyle, diet, family history, etc. What about how many friends you have? It can display that too since you gave it access. The options are almost endless and easily configurable through a website. It sounds silly right off the bat, but there can be situations where you’d want to know a particular thing the minute your eyes are open. Or maybe a specific type of information can motivate you to get out of bed. Whatever the case, it’s nice to know that a product exists that’s able to do this, if this is what you’re into. An $85 pledge will get you yours.

Secret Agent Alarm Clock, Shoot to See the Time

secret agent alarm clock Secret Agent Alarm Clock, Shoot to See the Time
Sleep with one eye open and a gun under your pillow. Well not a real gun but the Secret Agent Alarm Clock. Need to know the time? Just pull out this gun and pull the trigger. The clock uses an LED to project the time onto the wall. The gun vibrates when the alarm goes off and the trigger is also used for the snooze function. For obvious reasons, don’t put this under your pillow if you actually sleep with a real gun under there.

Hide your stuff in plain sight! The 9.5″ by 6.75″ by 1.75″ safe is opened via a biometric fingerprint scanner for added security. The steel reinforced door is spring loaded to pop open when your fingerprint is scanned. The scanner can actually be programmed to learn 120 different fingerprints (which I’d guess is about 118 more than most people will need). The dock charges your iPhone and can use it as one or both of the dual alarms, as well as display the date and time. An aux cable is included to play nicely with other MP3 devices.

Super Annoying Pikachu Talking Alarm Clock

pikachu alarm clock Super Annoying Pikachu Talking Alarm Clock
If you’ve ever heard Pikachu speak, you can imagine how annoying a Pikachu Talking Alarm Clock would sound. And you’d be extremely wrong- because it’s way MORE annoying than whatever mental image you had. Waking up the odd sound of his nonsensical rambling? Ugh. Check out the video of the chatty Pokemon alarm below:

Not sure why the video shows an analog clock but the picture shows a digital one. But you get the point about how irritating Pikachu repeating his own name in various ways sounds. Dude drops his own name more than some rappers I know. Of course being annoying isn’t always a bad thing as far as alarm clocks go, so maybe it’s a winner.
