Fire Bombs

Love this clever design for a Fire Extinguisher! It has several water bombs – or balls if you’d like to call them that, which can be used instantly for small fires. It’s definitely a radical redesign that I’m seeing for the first time. Several tweaks to it and you can have a brand new take on how to put out fires!

Braille Book Everything

Imagine a world where the sight impaired can read almost any publication without it being specially printed in Braille. It will not only save the cost of a specialized printing but also make a lot more reading material accessible to the blind. The Blind Reader is a device that looks like a smartphone but functions like a text-to-Braille converter. Simply skim it over the paper publication and the surface transforms to Braille that can be easily read. Simple, effective and portable!

Jellyfish Ahoy!

I remember gazing at the jellyfish with utter amazement in Hong Kong’s Ocean Park aquarium. Little did I know that their sting can be so painful and apparently some species’ sting can actually prove fatal for humans! I love the ocean and shudder to think how would it feel to get stung. The Ocean Guard is a series of buoys that use ultra-low frequency sound waves to prevent jellyfish from entering certain areas. It is a safer way to keep them at bay, without harming them. Peaceful co-existence I suppose.

Ocean Guard is an IDEA Award winning entry.
