Biostar has come out with a new micro-ATX motherboard, the TA75MH2. Based on AMD A75 chipset, the board supports for FM2 processors and features two DDR3 DIMM memory slots (up to 32GB RAM), one PCI-E x16 2.0 slot, two PCI-E x1 2.0 slots and one PCI slot. Connectivity-wise, it has six SATA 6.0 Gbps, three USB 3.0, four USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet. Pricing and release date are still unknown at the moment. [Biostar]
The new BIOSTAR Hi-Fi A85X FM2 motherboard supports any AMD E2, A4, A6, A8 and 10 processor with an FM2 pin-out. It is also compatible with Athlon II X4 CPUs that are based on the new APUs with a maximum TDP of 100 Watts. This new ATX form factor motherboard provides native support for SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and dual-channel memory up to DDR3 – 2400 in over-clocking mode. It is equipped with BIOSTAR Hi-Fi Power technology, THX truStudio PRO and BIOSTAR Hi-Fi Ground. A new mini-ITX motherboard ‘A68I-350 DELUXE’ from Biostar has recently entered the market. Based on AMD A68 chipset, the board is packed with a 1.6GHz AMD E-350D dual-core processor, a Radeon HD 6310 graphics card, two DDR3 DIMM memory slots (up to 16GB RAM) and one PCI-E 2.0 x16 (x4) slot. Based on Intel Z77 Express Chipset, the board supports for LGA1155 processors, and features MSI’s Hi-Fi technology (w/ an integrated, independent audio power design), four DDR3 DIMM memory slots (up to 32GB RAM), two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, one PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot and three PCI-Express 2.0 x1 slots. There haven't been many choices in PC motherboards for audiophiles -- the 'real' kind that might see even a good dedicated sound card as slumming it. Biostar wants to fill that untapped niche with the Hi-Fi Z77X. Along with run-of-the-mill expansion for an Ivy Bridge- or Sandy Bridge-based desktop, the board's built-in 7.1-channel audio flaunts six 3.5mm analog jacks, an amp and the kind of exotic-sounding language that leads audio addicts to buy $2,000 cables they don't need. We're talking "metal-oxide film resistors" and "non-polarized electrolysis electric audio capacitors," here. Whether or not the changes have an appreciable impact on sound quality, listeners are ironically left out of S/PDIF audio, which exists only as a header on the board unless buyers spend a little more on parts. That said, if we assume the as yet unknown price isn't stereotypically high -- and that audiophiles don't mind a big, potentially noisy desktop as a home theater PC -- the Hi-Fi Z77x could be a treat for those who want to wring every nuance out of music and movie soundtracks.
