Eva Solo Grating Bucket Collects Shredded Food Inside

You can buy all kinds of graters, but most of them require you to grate your cheese directly over your meal like some barbarian. The Eva Solo Grating Bucket is a more elegant solution. It collects the shreds inside as you grate, allowing you to dispense them appropriately later.

Cheese, carrots, whatever. The shreds are collected within for easily sprinkling on top of your favorite dishes. Like any grater, this one will shred a variety of foodstuffs, like cheese, chocolate, carrots and even cold butter. No more aiming at your dish from above and making a mess as it all falls down. This is an elegant grater for a more civilized age.

The design could not be simpler. The Eva Solo Grating Bucket is, basically just a stainless steel cup with grating blades on its sides. It measures 8.3 inches tall so it holds enough to be truly useful. It’s available from Amazon for $49.50(USD).

Simpler isn’t always better!

It was just a few days ago that I was in the midst of adding parmesan to my homemade pasta when I started pondering the old-fashioned grater that I was using. I was thinking, “this thing is so simple, yet so uncomfortable and hard to clean.” I wondered if it could be made better by simplifying it further. Needless to say, I never came up with a solution. BUT, looking at the Satellite Grater here, I now realize the answer wasn’t to simplify, it was to enhance! Check it out!

The design has the same grating options (slicing, zesting, shredding) but features arms that expand to clip onto dishware with its multiple teeth on the underside. In its collapsed form it saves more space, and it’s also waaaaaay easier to clean! Needs it!

Are You Flexible To Grate?

The Flexita is a simple kitchen tool that makes food grating a whole lot easier. It transforms from two to three dimensions and is efficient to clean and store. It simply flattens when not in use and molds into a handy grip when needed. Crafted from harmonic steel, the metal that has a ‘memory’ and returns to its original flat shape after bending.

The handles and thin edge trim are made with polyethylene injected in a silicon mould, and these parts are recyclable. The steel is incredibly thin, at just 0.2 millimetres. The use of harmonic steel makes it possible to save 50% of the materials used for typical graters. The ease of washing the flat shape can also lead to water savings of up to 80% in comparison to typical graters. The minimal weight of the grater and its flat shape allows for efficient transportation.

Flexita is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winning entry.
