Centrifugal Force Never Looked So Good

The top toy has remained largely unchanged since antiquity because… why change a good thing?! The Bubble top by Maki is just a little different, however. The collection consists of two distinct designs inspired by the “collision” between two bubbles meeting. This is represented in its mechanized methacrylate material that gives it translucence to view the interior one made from resin. It’s a subtle twist (pun intended) on the design that gives this time-tested toy a fresh new look.

If Thor Had an Alarm Clock

Now you can channel your inner Thor superhero every morning with the Hammer alarm clock! That’s actually not far off from what the inspiration was for this clever clock. Designer Jorge Ros Gisbert wanted to create a way for people to wake up feeling strong and motivated each day instead of feeling defeated and irritating by annoying smartphone alarms.

Your face is already buried in your smartphone enough as it is, but at least now interacting with your phone doesn’t have to be the FIRST thing you do each day. Instead, you must grab the hammer and slam it down on the rubberized base to shut off the alarm. You’ll wake up feeling tough and determined as you’ve already muscled your way out of bed!

The Functionalist Fan

Inspired by Dieter Rams minimalist manta of “less, but better”, this simplistic fan ditches the frill for pure functionality. Stripped of all the unnecessary components, you’ll find it as easy to use as it is attractive.

Bare as it is, there’s no functional sacrifice to be found. It oscillates on a square base and can be set at a variety of fan speeds. In keeping with the minimal aesthetic, a single, intuitive button makes it possible to control these features as well as on/off power.
