In stark contrast to its PC lineup, Lenovo's tablet offerings are often the wrong side of exciting. The IdeaTab S2109, for instance, arrived with little fanfare or enthusiasm, and little to make it stand out from the rest of the mid-range 10-inch tablet crowd. Unfortunately, the day-to-day experience was similarly underwhelming, thanks to its middling chip, short battery life and dodgy design decisions. So, instead, let's close our eyes and imagine what we'd have done if Lenovo had asked us to craft its next tablet. What would you do? Tell us in the comments below.

How would you change Lenovo’s IdeaTab S2109?
When we reviewed Lenovo's IdeaTab S2109, one quote sums up the essential frustration of this particular device. "There's no one huge, glaring reason to stay away; no, it's the combination of a middling CPU, unimpressive battery life and design quirks [...] that adds up to an experience that leaves us wanting more." So let's talk about why this device inspires so much apathy? If you bought it, what about it made it so unspectacular, and what do you think Lenovo could have done differently?
Lenovo IdeaTab S2109 review: a budget-priced ICS slate with a few too many quirks

Lenovo got the memo: it's high time the company released a new tablet. With products from Acer, ASUS and Samsung keeping us plenty busy these last few months, Lenovo can hardly expect to stay relevant with the IdeaPad A1 and ThinkPad Tablet from 2011. So the IdeaTab S2109, a $350, 9.7-inch slate running Ice Cream Sandwich, comes in the nick of time.
That's not to say we were surprised when the tablet launched in June. The S2109 made its grand debut at the FCC in March, and Lenovo teased its arrival with a YouTube video highlighting the 8.9mm-thick unibody shell and the 1,024 x 768 IPS LCD display. What the company wasn't so quick to point out, though, was that this device packs a TI OMAP 4430 CPU rather than the Tegra 3 processor that's quickly becoming the new tablet norm. So how does the performance stack up? Does this go toe to toe with all those other mid-range, 10-inch slates we've seen lately? Let's take a look.

Lenovo has offered few hints (if unsubtle ones) that the IdeaTab S2109 was on the way, but it's now in the US in earnest. As we saw early on, some of the Android 4.0 tablet's specs read like those of an iPad 2, down to the 9.7-inch, 1024 x 768 IPS panel, 1.3-pound weight and ever so slightly thicker 8.9mm unibody shell. Lenovo is catering more to the movie-watching set, though: a four-speaker system and 1080p video over micro-HDMI make us see it as a couch-surfer's Netflix machine. We're a bit less enthused with the aging dual-core, 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 inside, but we won't complain about the $349 asking price. If the balance is appealing, both Lenovo and Office Depot will be ready to serve it up in early June.

The new Lenovo IdeaTab S2109 was just unveiled, and this new tablet runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It has a 4:3 aspect ration and a 9.7-inch IPS screen with a 1024×768 resolution. Will it be a worthwhile alternative for those considering an iPad or Kindle Fire?
It’s got a slim unibody design, and a 10-hour battery life. It’s only 8.9mm thick and supports Google Play as well as the Lenovo App Shop. The tablet has a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, but no rear camera, which is an interesting statement on the practicality of using tablets as cameras vs. just using them to do video chats.
The extra speakers, a Micro-HDMI and Micro-USB ports are definitely advantages over Apple’s tablets, but the resolution isn’t anything spectacular, and the omission of the rear-facing camera is an interesting choice.
The previously announced IdeaTab S2 is priced at $349(USD) and has a higher resolution (1280×800) display, as well as a rear-facing 5MP camera, so it’s expected that the IdeaTab S2109 will be more competitively priced. A release date hasn’t been announced, but it should be soon.
