HTC got ’em curves!

htc_one_concept_1

The HTC One concept is highly reminiscent of Sony Xperia’s phone design. The curved side profile reminds me of the Xperia Arc. However, the back face of the phone follows HTC’s design language. The One concept boasts of a strong visual aesthetic, doing away with the ‘sleek’ trend today’s phones keep following. The phone’s curved back fits well into one’s hand, making it much more comfortable to hold than the phones out there today.

Also, look! No antenna lines!

Moto Reimagined

moto_smartphone_1

I feel we should banish the word sleek from our dictionaries. Enough is enough. I don’t want a razor thin phone, I just want one that does a marvelous job. This Motorola concept smartphone really explores a new aesthetic that makes a phone functionally superior while giving it some body (because we end up putting thick protective cases on our thin phones anyway… stupid humans). The screen is pretty much edge to edge, but is surrounded by a thick metal bezel that almost makes it look like the phone is wearing a protective armor.

I love the fact that the phone’s outer metal bezel really acts as a defining element for the phone visually. Buttons on the bezel really stand out, and can easily be pressed without fumbling. Even the speakers are in a recessed spot between the phone’s inner body and outer bezel, giving it a beautiful character.

Poles can get cold

latch_pole_sleeve_1

Not talking about the north and south poles! I’m talking about the metal poles in buses and subways. I cringe at the idea of sitting on a toilet in the winter, imagine having to hold on to a stainless steel pole for support during a subway ride! *shudder*

Anyhow, the Latch is here to save you the trouble of having to deal with the fact that ‘winter’s coming’. The Latch is just a silicone sleeve that fits over the pole. Silicone feels great to touch, and also improves one’s grip. Its insulating properties make sure you never have to deal directly with cold metal. It also comes with a hooping point, to hang your bags, umbrellas, and other paraphernalia, because holding onto a pole in public transport can sometimes require both hands!
