CCP’s Oculus Rift demo becomes EVE: Valkyrie, space dogfighting due in 2014 (video)

DNP EVR becomes Eve Valkyrie for Oculus Rift, out 2014

We've been waiting for a proper Wing Commander successor for ages and it looks like EVE: Valkyrie could be it -- if you don't count Star Citizen, that is. What was originally demoed as EVR back at EVE Fanfest and on the Oculus Rift HD at E3 is now a multiplayer space dogfighter set within developer CCP's longstanding EVE Online universe. Details are as scarce as Megacyte, but, according to the Icelandic dev, it's coming out in 2014. It's a sure lock for a PC release, but CCP's history with the PS3 EVE spin-off Dust 514 and Sony's amoré for the Rift makes us wonder if consoles are in its future. Hopefully this means we'll be able to play on PS4 at some point, but instead of holding our breath, we'll just keep watching the trailer below on repeat.

What the All-Female Avengers Would Look Like

attachment

Sometimes, women feel like they’ve been shortchanged. Looking at the history of mankind, they’re probably right. The latest complaint? Why just one woman on the Avengers team in the film, Scarlett Johansson portraying Black Widow.

So… someone set out to fix that. No, not make an actual movie with an all-female casts. ...

iBuyPower rides new Valkyrie line of gaming laptops

Not content with the unveiling of its Chimera 4 and Erebus GT desktops, iBuyPower is turning its attention to gamers of a more mobile persuasion with the launch of its new Valkyrie line of gaming laptops. Folks who want to channel their inner Rich Uncle Pennybags can also configure the Valkyrie with more options such as an i7-3820QM processor, up to 32GB of RAM, dual HDD/SSD storage and a Blu-Ray drive. iBuyPower says the Valkyrie line is part of efforts to beef up its laptop offerings in order to compete with the likes of Dell/Alienware and ASUS. In the meantime, folks who've got Elmer Fudd's rendition of "Kill the Wabbit" stuck in their heads after reading the word "Valkyrie" can clear their minds by perusing the PR after the break.

The 111-Pound LEGO Battlestar Galactica Valkyrie

Did you think that Garry King’s 54-pound LEGO Battlestar Galactica spaceship was impressive? Check out his new latest creation, the BSG Valkyrie, made entirely of LEGO bricks, and weighing in at a whopping 111 pounds!

In addition to its weight, Valkyrie is huge. Gary’s new model measures 122 inches in length, 43.3 inches in width and 14.9 inches in height. The landing bays are 51 inches long. It took Gary five months to construct this 42,341-piece model of the Valkyrie. It was made only using images found on the Internet, so it might not be as accurate as some superfans would like. It’s still an amazing build.

It’s cool that this time around Gary actually built one of the ships that we’ve grown familiar with in the most recent series. Gary thinks that there are probably a few turrets missing. To be honest, I don’t really miss them. The build looks pretty darn amazing as it is.
