The Mazda RX-9 is a conceptual Japanese mid-engine beast!

Designed to reintroduce the Japanese aesthetic to the racing world and revive its bloodline, the Mazda RX-9 concept by Joseph Robinson celebrates the car company’s legacy, and the imagination of a designer who passionately hopes that Mazda will make its comeback to its sportscar days. The Mazda RX-9, a halo performance vehicle, comes with a hybrid mid-engine setup of an electric motor coupled with its famous Renesis rotary engine.

The RX-9’s oriental roots are clearly visible in its crouching-tiger inspired design, with ground-hugging design, a prominent rear that emulates a tiger’s hindquarters pre-pounce, and a menacing set of headlights that glimmer like jungle cat eyes in the dark. The concept car comes with a dominant shoulder line, aggressive air-intakes, and Mazda’s trademark grille design too!

The Bentley Centanne concept encases the riders with a panoramic all-glass top

Almost like a convertible, but with an all-glass top, the Bentley Centanne literally captures the feeling of driving under the stars. The bespoke ‘grand tourer’ concept comes with a design that flows from start to end in the iconic powerful olive green, and with a panoramic glass top that cascades from the windshield all the way to the rear of the vehicle in a spectacular fashion. The front grill features an embossed 8, doing a hat-tip to the Le Mans 8. The coupe seats two at the front, but also features a loveseat at the rear of the vehicle so they can enjoy the view without leaving the car. The glass at the rear opens up into two (quite like the wings on a ladybird), to allow access to the back in a way that transforms the car into less of a vehicle and more of interactive space for riders to socialize in.

Designed as a carriage for the core Bentley audience, the car caters to the people who crave luxury on wheels. Its rear seating fundamentally changes the relationship between car and rider by transforming the interiors into less of a cabin and more of a social space.

The Z-Motorcycle is a great looking e-bike with a non-traditional aesthetic

Designed around the shape of the letter ‘Z’, this electric bike is a testament to the freedom that electric powertrains can provide to designers. No longer are you confined by components and mechanics revolving around fuel-based propulsion systems. As long as you’ve got a battery somewhere, and a motor connected to your wheels, you’ve got yourself an e-bike… and that advancement is a pretty great thing for transportation designers.

The Z-Motorcycle’s design is dominated by the Z shape that forms the core of its design. The Z starts at the headlight, finding its way down to the rear wheel, cutting through the bulk of the motorcycle’s form. It also dictates the bike’s design, with a relatively flat top, featuring integrated fold-out handles and footrests, the absence of rearview mirrors, and a seat that smoothly extrudes out of the Z’s spine and cantilevers ever so gently off the rear wheel. The Z’s shape, apart from giving the bike its iconic form, also gives it a fair bit of function, says Joseph Robinson. It can behave as a tachometer or turn indicator, or even an indicator as you charge your bike. Speaking of charging, the bike even comes with a detachable battery in the mass right behind the front wheel. It delivers power to a motor located in the lower rear-arm of the Z, making the Z-Motorcyle a rear-wheel-drive with a form that’s definitely set to grab a few eyeballs!
