The Color Of Pain

Paraplegic athletes who are into extreme sports like Sit-Skiing, Wheelchair Basketball and Ice Sledge Hockey and are subject to their risks. These sportspeople are often suffering from reduced or total loss of pain sense and don’t even realize that they are bruised or injured. The Bruise is a smart injury detection suit for Paraplegic Athletes.

Injuries that are left untreated for this segment can develop into a performance-hindering or even life-threatening condition.

How it works:

  • The Bruise uses a recyclable pressure-sensitive film to indicate the severity of injuries.
  • It is made of sweat-wicking stretch fabric for a comfortable supportive fit.
  • Mesh inserts and ergonomic seams offer breathability and freedom for movement.
  • High-risk areas are covered with disposable made-to-fit film inserts.
  • If an area is excessively stressed during an accident, the film will irreversibly change color.
  • After training or competing, injured areas can be easily spotted and dealt with.

Beware The Sharky

Move aside JAWS, we have a more helpful shark here to ensure correct posture and aid better sitting. Basically Sharky is a ‘cross leg stopper’ that can be used both the ways. When placed on the chair, it makes sure you don’t end up crossing your legs unconsciously. Flip it up to use as a table and a cross-leg stopper. Research says that prolonged leg crossing can lead to joint pains at the knees and the hips. Like they say, better to befriend Sharky than be sorry!

Zipper Quality Sound

It’s not the first time that zipper functionality has been introduced to earphones. While earlier concepts only dealt with taking care of managing the earphones, this improvised version has some new features to it. For example, to control the volume of your digital player, simply slide the earphone line up or down, just like zipping up and down. To change tracks, you need to twirl the line either to the left or right. By employing intuitive gestures to control your device, the design has the potential to become a good product. Now only if we can figure out the engineering for it.

The Value of Pee

GP Toilet is a pathology-enabled toilet system that analyzes your urine and gives you a detailed diagnostic report on it. It works pretty simple, when you need an analysis done; a nozzle sprouts out and takes samples while you do your job. A quick investigation and the reports are displayed onto the integrated screen. I see the value of such toilet bowls in hospitals and homes where frequent monitoring is required on a weekly, if not daily basis.

A non-invasive and unobtrusive design as this is more appealing for patients who have to deal with repeated testing. My only concern is the integrated display; a suitable refinement will be if there is a system where the results can be synced to the mobile phone or a computer. What do you think?

Sticker 3D Vision

Viewing 3D cinema is a truly gripping experience but for the 3D glasses! Besides being heavy and awkward for those already wearing numbered glasses, they are a material waste and pose a health hazard. Stix offers an easy solution by being a pair of self-adhesive sticker 3D viewing films. Simply slap them onto your current numbered glasses and enjoy your 3D movie.

The stickers are cut out a shape bigger than average glasses to ensure they cover till the rim. The concept’s approach resonates with me, since I wear glasses too and find wearing additional glasses a hassle. Hopefully the sticker in Stix will be easy to peel off and then we are assured of a winner here!
