The OM lounge chair embodies biomimicry for better seating

I have learned to appreciate the value of a good chair, thanks to the fact that I spend a good twelve hours in my office chair. The truth is you need a comfortable seat and a backrest that supports your spine. The chair should enhance your posture so that you can work efficiently, without compromising on your health.

The OM chair is inspired by the Orchid Mantis. Using bionics as it’s base, the designers have crafted a chair where the plastic form of the seat resembles an orchid petal. The steel base is like the mantis itself.

Supporting 360-degree rotation, the chair allows your legs to take a comfortable position, should you choose to sit in ‘sukh asana’ and meditate or chant OM.

The Patricius 1 chair by Sergey Senchin is a tribute to the golden age of the Roman Empire in which individuals paid great attention to the quality of objects, especially those within their home. It also repeats the archetypical form of furniture as it was in ancient Rome. The metal rod forms the body of the chair and creates a balanced, sculptural quality that can be appreciated from any angle. The seat is made of oak veneered plywood. Together, it intentionally looks like the bones of a chair… what lies beneath, if you will… but it’s expertly executed to stand on its own.

Outside the Box

The Q5 chair is a dedication to the creator of the geodesic dome, Buckminster Fuller. The design language is a clearness of lines and accuracy of the metal base details. It consists entirely of triangles, each being a continuation of the previous one. Not only structurally sound, it’s also made of aluminum alloy, making it materially strong and lightweight. The inside of the Q5 is upholstered for keeping warm and convenience.

Optionally, the aluminum base can be painted in a desired color, and the felt can be upholstered with a fabric or leather for a bespoke look.
