These postcards pay tribute to the most recent iconic moment in modern art

People stood absolutely aghast at Sotheby’s as a framed print of Banksy’s mural, the ‘Balloon Girl’ automatically began shredding just seconds after it was auctioned for a cool $1.4 million. The shredder was cleverly built inside the artpiece’s frame, and designed by Banksy himself. The idea was to completely shred the painting in front of the buyer’s eyes, giving consumerism a monumental middle finger, but the shredder failed mid-way, with the print half-inside intact, and half-outside shredded.

Lesha Limonov’s concept postcards for the Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam) play on this very moment, with prints that shred as you tug on a tab at the base. When the postcard descends downwards, you not only witness the shredding, but you also get to read the message behind the artpiece, on the frame (wouldn’t it be wonderful if Banksy had a snarky message written behind his artpiece too?!)

Postcard Airplane is Truly Airmail

air mail Postcard Airplane is Truly Airmail
It’s airmail! Send an airplane in the mail with the Suck UK Postcard Aeroplane Postcard Airplane is Truly Airmail. It’s a real balsa wood airplane and a postcard you can write on. Just punch out the pieces and assemble and take to the skies. I’m not sure if the wood cutouts are sturdy enough that you can put a stamp right on it and mail or if you need to send it in the envelope pictured on the product page, but either way it’s definitely a very fun way to send and receive a message from somebody.

scratch off minesweeper 650x498 Scratch Off Minesweeper Game Postcards
I want to get one of these in the mail! These Minesweeper Postcards from Connect Design (KR) bring the classic timewasting Windows 3.1 game to you in a lotto-like format. The postcards come in either easy with 80 mines, or hard with 120. Instead of clicking with your mouse, you scratch off the boxes to reveal the numbers that show how many mines are around- but don’t scratch off the mines or you lose!

There’s even little stickers to place on the cards with flags to mark the mines, an exploded bomb for when you (inevitably) lose, and happy or sad faces to place at the top- all just like the real game. No I don’t understand how you’re supposed the mail the card and stickers together either. The good thing about these cards is that they are much easier to play with your boss looking over your shoulder. The bad thing- they’re from Korea and cost $2 per card.
