Most drones come in a fixed form, and are pretty inflexible. The Airblock is a modular drone that encourages experimentation. It’s easy to assemble and disassemble and can be programmed like a robot. You can make the drone the way that you want.
The drone’s main module acts as a programmable core, and the kit includes six hexagonal blade modules that you can combine into a variety of shapes. It even has a base so you can transform the drone pieces into a hovercraft, allowing this thing to conquer both land and air.
The modules magnetically attach to one another, making it easy to add and remove parts without needing tools. Electrical connectors give power to connected modules via wires. Assemble it how you want it, for whatever purpose you need. It’s a cool idea, cleverly executed.
You can find it on Kickstarter. A single Airblock will cost $99 or $119(USD) after the early bird slots run out. Kids and adults will dig it.
