Grillin’ Villains: Aprons Inspired By Bad Guys

Grillin’ Villains is the newest line of aprons brought to us by Etsy shop Haute Mess Threads. Previously we’ve seen the Geek Chic and Kitchen Killers collections, which were both mega impressive.  But this one? This one is hands spatulas down the best one so far. The line features aprons inspired by everyone’s favorite villains like Queen of Hearts, Deadpool, Ursula, Mystique, and some of the Batman bad guys including the Joker & Harley Quinn, Two-Face, the Riddler, and the Peguin. I even commissioned my very own apron from the series — Krang from TMNT! I’m gonna wear it in the nude. Now I know what you’re thinking and yes, you’re exactly right: I am very brave. Cooking in the buff can be prettyyyy dangerous. You ever splattered grease on your nips? Yeah, me too. But it wasn’t an accident. Know what I’m saying? I’m saying I’m krinky as all hell, y’all!

Disney Princess Aprons Are Magical

We’ve seen a lot of super cute aprons around here and these are no exception. This is a line of Disney Princess aprons made by Etsy seller Lover Dovers Clothing. She’s got an apron inspired by Snow White, Belle, Sleepy Beauty, and even two different Cinderella versions — pre- AND post- Prince Charming. Not feeling very princessy? There’s also non Disney Princesses like Alice In Wonderland and the Queen of Hearts. Personally, I’m a little bummed they didn’t include MY favorite Disney Princesses, Pocahontas and Ariel. It’s like, oh just because she lives underwater where they don’t even have cooking because there’s no such thing as fire she doesn’t get to have an apron like all the other princesses? Because, okay, when you put it that way… that kind of makes sense.

Smart Apron Automatically Alerts the Gang When the Grub’s Ready

Smart Apron

My friends and I have this thing where we take turns hosting dinners at our houses. I think most of us can relate that the most annoying thing is when someone keeps popping into the kitchen to ask if dinner’s ready because they’re starving. Something that can help along these lines is the Smart Apron.

It’s basically an apron that lets people know when you’ve started cooking and when you’re already finished, as signaled by when you put the apron and when you take it off. The Smart Apron makes use of wireless XBee radios hooked to Lilypad Arduinos to alert diners on the status of dinner (or lunch) by sending notifications to smartphones, tablets, or desktops that are following the cook’s progress.

The Smart Apron isn’t available commercially yet, although it’s an interesting concept that shows how technology can be embedded into household items for increased efficiency and convenience.
