A Most Modest Dehumidifier

yo_wall_mounted_dehumidifier_layout

Even if you live in the driest of deserts, your bathroom can become a place for bacteria and mold to flourish if you don’t have the right ventilation. For anyone who lives in areas that have year-round humidity, this is even more true. Designed with this in mind, ‘Yo’ is a dehumidifier that doubles as a towel rack to keep mildew and bacteria growth at bay.

The design can be mounted to any wall where power can be provided. A filtration device and suction system collect moisture from the air and as it evaporates from any freshly used hanging towels. When it’s not in use, a stainless steel bar ensures the surface is sanitary at all times. Better yet, its modest aesthetic will easily blend into your bathroom style.

A Dehumidifier with a Difference

share_dehumidifier_vacuum_cleaner_layout

We feature a large number of innovative dehumidifiers here at Yanko Design, covering a wide variety of aesthetics and each of them aimed at a different consumer, but none of them have been quite like ‘Share’.

‘Share’ combines two household appliances, a dehumidifier and steam vacuum cleaner to create an environmentally considered product. It gets its name from the process of sharing water between the two devices; the water that is collected via the dehumidifier is transferred and then utilized by the automatic floor cleaner.

Not only do they share water, but they also share the space within the room; the steam cleaner is housed within the base of the dehumidifier, allowing everything to be kept in one place. A professional and domestic aesthetic has been achieved by the use of a black, satin finish and subtle surface detailing.

A Desert-inspired Dehumidifier

dehum_dehumidifier_03

The latest in a trend of sculptural dehumidifiers, this one, called “De;Hum”, is an exercise of aesthetics. With a nod to its drying purpose, its form and textured patterns are similar to things you might find in a desert. The shape, for instance, is reminiscent of pyramids. Its signature pattern printed on the base reminds one of the unique, flowing waves found in wind-swept sand dunes. Its combination of modern interface/tech with a nod to history and nature make it a welcome addition to any place needing a little less humidity.

Make Dehumidifying a Celestial Event

inclipse_01

When you imagine appliances like a dehumidifier, this is the last thing you’d expect it to look like… and that’s precisely its appeal! This sleek, minimalistic, wall-mounted object is a far cry from the bulky, cumbersome units of yesteryear.

Inspired by lunar and solar eclipses, it features an integrated LED system that creates an artistic pattern of shadow and light shapes that are not only pleasing to the eye but indicatory of the appliance’s working status. Spin the simplistic interface to turn it on and the backlight will activate to show that its working. An artful accent in the modern abode, it’s right at home on any wall, in any room.

Using Condensate Creatively

around_01

Whether it’s for health or comfort reasons, plenty of people implement dehumidifiers to reduce the level of humidity in the air and the same users often encounter a similar problem. The collected water generally goes to waste as it’s filtered directly back into a drain or disposal system. The Around dehumidifier addresses this issue with a simplistic design change.

It incorporates a removable reservoir specially adapted for watering plants. The reservoir remains enclosed within the compact unit until the indicator light displays that it’s full. Then, the user can quickly remove it and use the water to hydrate their garden or indoor plants. A specialized lip funnels water exactly like a pitcher!

More than an air conditioner

afresh_1

Air conditioners do the obvious. Cool the room. Dehumidifiers do much more. When you remove humidity, you pretty much kill bacteria, purify the air, make it more tolerable to be in the room, and also take care of malodorous elements in the air or the room.

Braun’s A-Fresh dehumidifier concept may look simple on the outside, but it’s capable of doing all these things. Shaped almost like a massive home button, the dehumidifier aims at making your home feel just right. The designer’s intent was to make a dehumidifier that looked less like an ugly contraption, and more like a sculptural piece of art that would look beautiful and make your home feel beautiful. Job well done, I say!
