Watch These Two RC Copters Lift A Full Grown Woman Off The Ground

HeliGraphix-Heavy-Ultra-Lifter-Crane-RC-helicopters_1

We had no idea that remote controlled helicopters could carry this much payload. Watch the video below as two remote controlled helis easily lift a woman off the floor, and carry her around a few feet. Yes, to be honest, the video is a little painful to watch (especially halfway through), but it’s also impressive. We don’t know much about the company behind the stunt, other than they’re German and appear to assemble these machines themselves. Maybe. Or maybe they make videos of themselves flying these things acrobatically. We’re not sure because the website is a little dense and unclear. But we don’t really care in the end, because all we really wanted to do was to show you the video below.

Ghostbusters Helicopters are Coming!

ghostbusters helicopters Ghostbusters Helicopters are Coming!
We were going to post this anyway today but on the news of the death of Harold Ramis, it seems appropriate. At the Toy Fair we got a sneak peak of this cool new Ghostbuster toy that is coming out next Fall from World Tech Toys.

It’s Ghostbuster mini r/c helicopters! What you see in the photo is still in the prototype stages- the final paint scheme is not even approved yet (you can see Slimer’s colors in the smaller model). There will be one chopper for each of the Ghostbusters (coincidentally the only figure they had on display was Ramis’ character Egon), as well as Slimer, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and even the Ecto-1 car! Each figure has a little helicopter blade atop their head and is remote controlled. RIP Harold Ramis.

R/C Flying Messaging Helicopter

rc message helicopter R/C Flying Messaging Helicopter
It’s a flying sign! The R/C Space Messenger R/C Flying Messaging Helicopter is the remote controlled helicopter with a light-up message. You use the remote control (with LCD screen) to program the 20 word memory and then display your hovering message in outer space! Well maybe not outer space but some sort of inside space, and that’s cool enough.

Switch the words up manually, or have the r/c copter scroll through them automatically, it’s your flying message. The Space Messenger charges up by docking with the controller. So many great ideas about where to use this, so little time. Yolo!

Is The Nano Falcon The World’s Smallest RC Helicopter?

nano-falcon-2

Weighing in at a ridiculous 11g and measuring 65mm across, the Nano Falcon from Japanese company CCP could very well be the world’s smallest such toy. For a bit of perspective, the iPhone 5 weighs 112g, so roughly 10 times more. It’s gyro stabilized and uses contra-rotating blades instead of a tail rotor and despite its small size, manages around 5 minutes of flight time on a 30 minute charge. The range from the IR remote is a little pitiful at 5 meters, but this isn’t the kind of toy you’re expected to take outside. If you know someone of the right age whose birthday is right around the corner, it’ll cost you ¥4,704 ($48) to make them happy. It’s available in Japan, starting June 7th.

Navy launches first drone squadron, comprised of ten Fire Scout MQ-8Bs

DNP Navy launches first squadron with both manned and unmanned aircraft

The US Navy has officially introduced unmanned aircraft along with eight newly manned helicopters into its squadron, making it the latest military branch after the Army and the Air Force to embrace the drone. Indeed, ten of the 18 aircraft to be deployed are Fire Scout MQ-8Bs, an unmanned chopper the Navy wishes to operate from combat ships set in the Pacific in about a year. Built to track targets, the Fire Scout lets troops see what's happening over potentially dangerous areas, allowing them to regroup and rearm if necessary. The drone isn't without its fair share of detractors of course, especially after the occasional communication failure, but here's hoping that these Linux-operated copters will remain well within human control.

Now that’s a great bubble delivery system. You can use the remote control from up 32 feet away. The copter flies for 5-7 minutes on a 40-50 minute charge (which is about average for these type of toys actually). Includes USB charging cable and bubble solution.

Camouflage Helicopter Audio Player

This miniature military transport helicopter can really belt out the tunes. The Camouflage Helicopter Audio Player has both an FM radio with LED clock display where the cockpit would be and it can play music from flash cards or USB drives.

The controls are right there in the front of the chopper and it comes in either green camo or yellow camo. The battery is USB rechargeable and there’s an aux line-in. Takes me back to my days in ‘nam (when I went on vacation in ’06, good times). I’m pretty sure the only appropriate music to play from this is Ride Of The Valkyries (from Apocalypse Now).

R/C UFO Ball Helicopter

The biggest problem with remote controlled helicopters? Crashing. It’s inevitable and you definitely don’t want to break your new toy. The R/C UFO Ball Copter R/C UFO Ball Helicopter takes care of that by putting that chopper in a cage in something that’s more like a flying ball than a helicopter. It also has alien-inspired LED lights for night flying and electronic fine tuning for stable flight. Just don’t let B.A. see this, he hates the birds, right Faceman?

Angry Birds R/C Helicopter

It looks like the Angry Birds have found a new way to fly over and try to knock those pigs off their little structure so they can get their eggs back- a helicopter. The Happy Bird 3 Channel Remote Controlled RC Helicopter Flying Toy Angry Birds R/C Helicopter is an obviously unofficial yet pretty accurate version of the highly popular video game character. The red bird’s mouth, fins, and tail all flap during it’s 8 minute per charge flying time. It’s a little smaller and less official than the Angry Birds Inflatable Flying Toy but it still gets that bird in the air.

Japanese Company To Launch One-Man Electric Helicopter

A Japanese company called Hirobo has announced their plans to launch a one-man helicopter that runs on batteries. The counter-rotating flying vehicle can be remote operated or flown by a pilot, and reaches speeds of 62mph for up to 30 minutes. The reason you’d want to be able to remote control it is in cases of rescue operations where you could just fly it up to the person in need, have them hop on, and bring them back to safety. The silent operation of the electric motor would also help locate a person hypothetically crying out for help.

The HX-1 is an ambitious and costly project. $125 million will have been poured into it by the time its 2021 rollout comes about. The reason for the long development time? Mostly regulatory, according to the president of the RC helicopter manufacturer, Kotaro Matsuzaka. But it’s not a simple concept either as a working prototype is slated for testing in early 2013. Should things go as planned, an unmanned version would cost 10,000,000 yen (US$125,000) while the one-seater would fetch three times as much.
