Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Is Now a Transformer: Ectotron

If you think you’ve collected all of the Transformers toys, think again. There’s one Transformers toy that’s missing from your collection. That’s because the Transformers Generations Collaborative: Ghostbusters Mash-Up, Ecto-1 Ectotron Figure is not available yet.

But you can pre-order it now from GameStop – with shipping starting this July. This is the Transformers/ Ghostbusters mashup you never knew you needed until now. The iconic Ecto-1 Cadillac from the 1984 Ghostbusters movie is now a Transformers robot called “Ectotron.” The 7-inch long figure comes with his own Proton Pack accessory and a Slimer accessory. It converts between Ecto-1 and robot modes in 22 steps. This piece has some great detail and is going to look amazing in your collection whether you display it in Ecto-1 mode or as a robot. I prefer the car to the robot myself.

Who ya gonna call? Hasbro apparently. Now if we could only transform the Ghostbusters reboot into something decent, life would be perfect. Can you help with that Hasbro? I wish you could. But this is a start to helping me forget about it.

Best Ghostbusters Costume Ever

This Ghostbusters remake is already better than that one that was just in theaters. Ryan Scott Miller turned his son Jeremy’s wheelchair into a miniature version of Ecto-1. Just give him all of the candy as he drives by this Halloween.

This version of Ecto-1 is based on Funko’s POP! vinyl Ecto-1 toy, and it does more than just look cool. It has working headlights, accent lights, flashing lights, and even the siren sound from the original Ghostbusters movies. Nice! Jeremy ain’t afraid of no ghost.

It is simply an amazing costume. Now he just needs a firehouse HQ and some Ghostbusting friends and he’s in business.

Fan Builds Awesome Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Replica

I don’t know about you, but everything about the new Ghostbusters reboot so far just seems blah. No style, no substance. Even the new Ecto-1 seems bland and unimaginative. On the other hand, this car made by UK-based Paul Harborne looks pretty sweet.

Paul spent three years and about $156,000(USD) renovating a classic 1960 Cadillac Miller-Meteor and turning it into the Ecto-1 car from the original Ghostbusters films. The Caters News Agency says that Harborne is getting even more attention than ever, with the upcoming release of the Ghostbusters reboot.

This is my dream car. Plus you can use it to bust ghosts on the side. Awesome.

Ghostbusters Ecto-1 NES: Who Ya Gonna Play?

At first glance, this looks like an ordinary Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters, but look again and you will see that it has a fully-functioning NES game system inside. Oh yes. Busting does make me feel good. Busting some other dude to become high bidder on eBay is an even better feeling.

This awesome NES case mod is a Hot Wheels 1/18th-scale Ecto-1 replica with a Retrobit NES system inside. It has a cartridge slot, controller ports, and AV hookups. It also has a sweet looking Ghostbusters-themed controller to go with. Awesome!

Right now it has a high bid of $540(USD) and bidding ends on 1/9 at 8pm Central. Sadly I am not high bidder. It will be interesting to see what it ultimately sells for.

Ghostbusters Helicopters are Coming!

ghostbusters helicopters Ghostbusters Helicopters are Coming!
We were going to post this anyway today but on the news of the death of Harold Ramis, it seems appropriate. At the Toy Fair we got a sneak peak of this cool new Ghostbuster toy that is coming out next Fall from World Tech Toys.

It’s Ghostbuster mini r/c helicopters! What you see in the photo is still in the prototype stages- the final paint scheme is not even approved yet (you can see Slimer’s colors in the smaller model). There will be one chopper for each of the Ghostbusters (coincidentally the only figure they had on display was Ramis’ character Egon), as well as Slimer, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and even the Ecto-1 car! Each figure has a little helicopter blade atop their head and is remote controlled. RIP Harold Ramis.

Uncle Makes His Nephew a Custom Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Cozy Coupe

Redditor tabres gets my vote for coolest uncle on the planet. Now it’s up to you other uncles to outdo him. This guy built his nephew a custom Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Cozy Coupe. It has flashing lights and a license plate and is everything a young Ghostbuster could want.

This kid is going to have some amazing adventures riding in this thing. Maybe this guy can build the kid a miniature Ghostbusters HQ next and get some neighbor kids to make up a new Ghostbusting team.

LEGO Is Making a Ghostbusters Set!

Can you believe that it has been 30 years this June since the release of Ghostbusters? Nowadays, we can’t imagine a world without them. LEGO likes them too and has agreed to produce video game artist Brent Waller’s LEGO set after it got over 10,000 supporters on LEGO Cuusoo.

That is amazing news for LEGO and Ghostbusters fans alike. However, it’s a good news, bad news kind of thing. Only the Ecto-1 and the minifigs are being made for now, not the awesome firehouse HQ.  Also, I’d doubt that the final version will light up like the awesome mockup shown here. Well, you can’t have everything.

At least we will have some kick ass Ghostbusters minifigs. Although Spengler does look a bit like Harry Potter, as others are saying. Still, it’s a win for geeks everywhere.

Now all we need is a Stay Puft marshmallow man set

Meet Cooper, the Little Ghostbuster with the Ecto-1 Push Car

Cooper Ghostbusters Costume

Remember Cooper, the adorable kid who shot to fame after word of how his amazing parents built him a DeLorean for Halloween spread like wildfire on the Internet? Well, he’s back again with another awesome costume and push car mod care of his parents, Jeremy and Cory Smith.

Whereas they just went with an idea for last year’s DeLorean, they put in a lot more thought on this year’s costume as they held a brainstorming session before working on it, which saw Cooper’s trusty push car transformed into the Ecto-1. It’s hard to believe they managed to pull everything off by using materials like cardboard boxes, take-out salsa cups, and soda bottles for the car.

As for his outfit, parts of Cooper’s Ghostbusters costume was custom made by Etsy seller JezebelRose, who made the felt Proton Pack and Ghost Trap for additional props.

The result is nothing short of awesome. You can check out more images of Cooper’s costume and his awesome Ecto-1 push car here.

Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Push Car is Paranormal

When Cory Newton-Smith made her son Cooper’s DeLorean push car last Halloween, she said that she would love to make epic costumes for her son every year. Fortunately for us, Cory and her husband Jeremy stuck to that promise. This year they dressed up Cooper as a Ghostbuster for Halloween. Naturally his push car had to go as Ecto-1.

Cory modified Cooper’s push car using “cardboard boxes repurposed from their recent move, spare electronics from an old vehicle, salsa cups from Mexican take-out, empty pop bottles, LEDs from the local electronics store, and some paint and tape.” Cory also bought felt replicas of the Proton Pack and Ghost Trap from Etsy shop owner Jezebel Rose. Cooper’s dad Jeremy also stepped up his game from last year. He installed LED lights and Bluetooth speakers that they can use to play the Ghostbusters theme and sound effects from a Windows Phone app.
