File this one under “how does this product not exist yet?” Apparently there are many mp3 to audio cassette adapters and they’re all like this Belkin one Bluetooth Audio Cassette Adapter with a wire dangling out that you plug directly into your headphone jack- unchanged since the days of the portable cd player. But now Ion Audio has announced the Cassette Adapter Bluetooth that does away with the wire.

The adapter uses bluetooth to create a wireless solution to streaming music from your phone or making hands-free calls. Ideal for anyone driving a classic car (or an old beater) that doesn’t want to or can’t change out the entire stereo unit. Or play it in your old school boombox. The adapter has a USB rechargeable battery that’s good for 6 hours of playtime. No pricing or release date yet. (via gizmodo)

ION Road Warrior: Bluetooth Boombox

Another CES, another 10,000 Bluetooth speakers. Yawn. At least we have to give ION a little credit for thinking slightly outside the box with their latest Bluetooth speaker – the Road Warrior.

This beast of a Bluetooth speaker offers up a substantial 200 watts of power, and is designed for pumping out thunderous sound wherever you go. The large speaker is made from sturdy MDF. It has a pair of 10″ woofers sure to offer up ample low-end, and is designed to look a bit like one of those on-stage monitors you see at concerts – especially when viewed from the side.

The Road Warrior has a built-in rechargeable battery pack, which can be juiced up via your car’s 12VDC outlet. In addition to Bluetooth audio, it’s got an AM/FM radio, so it’s perfect for listening to sports events while tailgating too.

There’s no word yet on pricing or a release date for the Road Warrior, but you can keep an eye out on ION’s website for more details.

ION Audio Planter Speaker: Sound for Green Thumbs

Here in Chicago, it’s so frakkin’ cold right now that growing plants is about the furthest thing from my mind. But I keep telling myself that spring is only a few months away. And once I’m hanging out on my deck and enjoying the nice weather again, my planters might have something other than dead branches in them. While I’m at it, I might want to listen to some tunes. This new speaker is designed to let you enjoy both at once.

ION Audio’s new Planter Speaker has a built-in Bluetooth receiver, so you can stream music from your smartphone or other mobile device. It’s also water-resistant, so you don’t have to worry about rain or watering your plant having any impact on the electronics. You’ll also be able to link multiple speakers together, albeit with a cable – and not wirelessly.

There’s no word on a price or release date yet for the Planter Speaker, but rest assured that it’s be available in time for the nice weather to return.
