Free Your Fridge

fridset_00

We are constantly hiding our ugly appliances, putting them behind doors or masking them as regular cabinets. It’s pure madness, really. A select few fridges, however, are so aesthetically appealing you’d be proud to have them on display in your kitchen. So long as your style is ultramodern, FRIDSET just might be one you’d want as-is.

Its sleek. Like, way sleek. It’s also slightly odd… perhaps even severe. The cooling unit is located above a completely open space intended to be used for storage… or simply displaying something cool. This means easy access for users who no longer have to bend down to reach items. In a cool combination of metal and glass, its stark aesthetic will be right at home as a modern kitchen highlight you’ll be happy to show off.

A Bug-inspired Builder

Safety is key when it comes to construction sites, so why does current heavy machinery have standard doors that are cumbersome and potentially dangerous? That’s the question designed Jee Na Jun asked when conceiving the C-ANT forklift.

The design explores an alternative entry and exit method that’s not only safer for workers to use, but also adds to the aesthetic appeal of the machinery. The circular shape takes inspiration from ants, nature’s most famous constructors. The door itself is near seamlessly integrated into the body, opening and closing by rotating rather than outward. Inside, the operator has unparalleled views and is kept safely out of harms way thanks to the naturally protective shape and rigid construction.

The Jelly Vibrations

Clean your clothes using only jelly and vibrations! Wow, now that sounds farfetched! According to designer Jee Na Jun, the Vibrate Jelly Laundry concept washing machine does not require any water for washing clothes. It uses the principles of vibration and jelly to rid soiled clothes of dirt and grime. Of course the process of this principle has not been explained by the designer, perhaps clarity will set in if the project moves to the next level of the 2014 Electrolux Design Lab Competition.

Vibrate Jelly Laundry is one of the Top 100 Finalists at the 2014 Electrolux Design Lab. You can vote for this or any other project over here. Voting closes May 16th 2014.
