Give your Plants H2O when you’re on the Go!

Who doesn’t love a vacation? The answer: your houseplants! Even those with a good green thumb can’t avoid the problem of plants drying out when they go out of town. Until now. Sanhih is an innovative and elegantly designed planter and funnel system that keep plants watered while you’re away!

The design is super simple. The glass container on top can be filled with water and will release a slow drip to ensure plants receive the water they need over time. A convenient measurement system located on the side of the glass indicates the correct fill line that corresponds with the time you’ll be away. Holes in the bottom half ensure your plant gets proper air circulates and is happy as it is hydrated!

Double The Warmth

Inspired by the Asian idea that the earth was square and heaven was round, the Double Warm Multi-functional and Energy-efficient Coal Stove was conceptualized. It is designed to have a water-storage volume surrounding the furnace so that you can boil water while you use the stove for cooking. This hot water can be used for bathing etc. Nice idea, especially since it is aimed for the energy-starved counties where resources are expensive and scarce.

Safe Luggage Travels

The Luggage Sitter is a refinement of the “Easy Lock” we saw earlier. Designed by two different teams, it’s a great way to compare how different designers approach the same problem with varied yet similar solutions. The refinement according to me is in the way the lock has been designed to be more flexible.

  • The redesign of the retractable suitcase handle allows it to be used as a lock.
  • When needed, the handle can be pulled out from the retracting framework, folded over, and locked onto the framework.
  • Flexible cords, which connect the handle and framework, can secure the suitcase to an armrest or similar structure.

Luggage Sitter is a 2013 red dot award: design concept winner.
