Amurica! Land of the free, where you are free to build any type of mailbox you want (as long as it conforms with certain USPS regulations). Well one New Jersey man took it to the extreme and built himself a 350 pound (plus a 1200 pound base!) Smith and Wesson .44 Magnum mailbox. Of course, it helps that he’s a cabinet maker and metal fabricator.

The barrel of the gun was made from 8 inch PVC pipe and it took him 4 months to build it in his spare time- an hour or two a day. The cylinder is mounted on ball bearings and spins in the breeze. Nice work. (via)

Smoking Gun BBQ Grill: Ready, Aim, Fire it Up!

Summer is nearly here. It’s time to get grilling hamburgers and hot dogs. You can always fire up your standard backyard grill, or you can go for something a little more fancy. Like this smoking gun grill that resembles a Smith & Wesson Magnum 500 revolver. Overkill? I think not.

A giant Smith and Wesson that will grill my meat? Hell, yeah! This grill was created by five welding students from Sandpoint High School in Idaho for a local firearms dealer. Of course.

These students should definitely think about a career making custom BBQ grills, because this thing is amazing. They would sell like crazy. It even has a space in the back to prepare your ammo food. I want one now! I can’t afford one, but I want one.

Ding ding ding- winner! This grill is shaped just like a Smith & Wesson Magnum 500 revolver, but juuuuust slightly bigger. This Smoking Gun Grill was built by a bunch of talented high school students from Idaho for their welding class. Yeah, while you were “reading” (sleeping through) Madam Bovary in school, these guys were building a massive barbecue gun- sucks for you. The gun grill is 15 feet long and went to a local gun shop for promotional use where I’m assuming it still resides today (I looked for an on-location shot but the shop is not on streetview and their website doesn’t show the grill or mention it).
