Thecus is pleased to introduce their newest 4-bay NAS server, the N4810. Built for home and small office users, this 4-bay NAS server is configured with a 1.60GHz Intel Celeron N3160 processor, a 4GB DDR3 RAM and four 2.5-/3.5-inch SATA HDD/SSD bays.

Equipped with AES-NI hardware encryption engine and hardware-based transcoding engine corresponding to 4K multimedia playback, the N4810 provides 3x USB 3.0 ports, 1x USB 3.0 Type-C port, 1x DisplayPort, 1x SPDIF port and 2x LAN ports.

ARCHISITE is preparing to release Thecus’ latest 5-bay NAS server ‘W5810’. Designed especially for small and medium-sized enterprises, this 5-bay NAS server is configured with a 2.0GHz Intel Celeron J1900 quad-core processor, a 4GB DDR3 RAM, a 60GB SSD (Boot Drive) and five 2.5-/3.5-inch SATA3.0/2.0 HDD/SSD bays.

Apart from that, device is equipped with 2x USB 2.0 ports (rear), 3x USB 3.0 ports (1x front, 2x rear), 1x HDMI output port (rear), 2x LAN ports and a 200W power supply. For operating system, the W5810 runs on Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 Essentials OS.

Intel launches Atom CE5300based storage platform with multiple streams, smart scaling

There's been more than a few Atom-based storage servers. Most of them either have to lean on the same Atom processors you'd usually get with nettops, though, which makes them less than ideal for media tasks than a chip dedicated to the job. Intel has just launched a new platform that might be a better fit for home network storage. New NAS arrays from Asustor, Synology, Thecus and others (none yet pictured here) all revolve around a dual-core Atom CE5300 system-on-chip that's better-optimized for media processing duties: it can stream video across the network to multiple devices at once, and can automatically downscale video to accommodate smaller screens. The small chip contributes to a relatively small price at the same time, with NAS boxes starting around $299. Not everyone can suddenly justify a dedicated media server in the home just because the CE5300 is an option, but those that do may at least get more for their money.
