Oil Tanker Turned Luxury Toy

From the same designers of the MY50M and Migaloo Submarine comes the world’s largest yacht design concept based on a 280 meter long SuezMax tanker platform. The project is named Imāra. The mega-ist of mega-yachts, the upcycled oil tanker turned private luxury floating residence may be larger than life but it’s also more environmentally friendly in comparison to newly constructed vessels. See what you get with all that room!

The exterior design is dominated by the slick hull painted in bright white with golden accents. For the superstructure of the tower, the design studio went for a custom design, but based on the shapes of common tanker superstructures. The overall exterior design concept was to generate a highly precious aesthetic combined with modern architecture-like elements but also incorporating every state-of-the-art super yacht feature.

The raised fore deck is dedicated to host 3 large helipads which guarantee fast departure or arrival of the owner and the guests. 2 of the helipads are lower able to the hangar which is located directly underneath. In total, the yacht is able to carry 5 choppers, 2 in the hanger and 3 on the heli deck above.

Another main exterior feature is the large atrium located amidships right above the wet garages and beach clubs. It stretches over 4 decks and generates imposing views from all angeles to the wet garages below, where tender and toys can be operated easily through 4 side hatches (2 on each hull side), each 15m wide. Tender up to to 90 feet can be docked in the yachts hull or can drive through the whole hull thanks to the 2 sided hatches.

Asymmetry Ahoy

Designed for the daysailer market, the Axiom yacht focuses on innovation and renewal of the external and internal design of this type of vessel. Based on automotive aesthetics, the AY 45 is characterized by simplicity of form, straight lines, minimal finishing details and deck asymmetry that drives it living functionality. From the side it appears as any other conventional vessel, but from above, its versatile layout is apparent and thoughtfully arranged for passenger comfort.

Drop-Top Yacht

Retractable hardtops have successfully equipped the automotive industry for decades… so why not the boating industry? Reversys Boat was designed from the inside out, using one mechanism to control three different positions to provide security, comfort and protection from the elements when closed… or fun in the sun when open. This modern tech creates an interesting contrast with the craft’s back-set cockpit, radical proportions and overall classic styling reminiscent of North American racers of the 1920s.

Cruise in Classic Style

Though it’s more of a day-cruiser than a full-size yacht, the Spearhead doesn’t skim on style or quality. The wing-stabilized leisure craft features classic wood detailing and a simple, minimal floorplan that makes the most of limited space. The more compact, sharp, and hydrodynamic shape make it ideal choice for those looking for powerboat performance with upscale trim.

Yacht holds its own

While we imagine of the world’s mega-yachts out in the open ocean, they are largely dependent on the land to refuel and resupply. The UNA autonomous yacht explores how one might be self-sufficient to the extent that it could remain at sea for extended periods of time if not a lifetime. Using photoelectrochemical hydrogen procution, the boat can produce its own fuel and maintain power indefinitely. As for food and water… well… you’d better like seafood!

Stradivarian Superyacht

We often call an object a Stradivari of its type to say its the finest example in existence, but this superyacht concept takes things another step, mimicking the design language of the famous stringed instrument itself. From neck to bow and hull to deck, the geometries of the violin were adapted to the technical requirements of the yacht, which designer Alex McDiarmid found were not as different as you might think…

Observing the construction of such stringed instruments, the designer noticed the striking similarities to superyacht construction. Evident from the outset was the pure craftsmanship of the very highest quality.

To reflect these characteristics, box and modular construction of the instruments main belly and back (the hull, bulwarks and bulkheads of the yacht) and the marriage of the tail piece, neck and scroll (the super structure) The bridge is of course the bridge. Various types of bows were examined and the three common types of violin bow heads (transitional, swan-bill head and pike-head) dictated the slight variations of the reverse bow of the ship. The tuning pegs on the neck of the instruments inspired anchor lockers, mooring guides and window graphics while the neck/hand area inspired a deep set hull window for a sensational view of the water from aboard.
The f-holes (sound holes) provide atrium like glazing inspiration while a huge, main deck with a curved glass wall at the aft allows natural day light inside.

Length: 120m / 393ft
Beam: 20m / 65ft
Owner state room and private decks
Berth capacity for guests 16 in 8 cabins
Berth capacity for crew 30
Power: Hybrid diesel electric propulsion system with pod drives, electric Voith Inline thrusters, Volvo Penta D16 MG gensets, Valance batteries
The hull is made from steel & superstructure aluminum.

Classy Beast

The Dartline 60′ combines superior performance and a refined aesthetic into one dreamy powerboat that’s sure to intrigue. Aggressive shapes, lines and curves are contrasted by a clean, elegant style with impeccable attention to detail. While the perfectly polished wood and white hull/trim complete its sophisticated look, I’d love to see a meaner version in black. I’ll take one of each!

Adjustable living space at the stern, hatch-forward skylight, huge sunbathing area, space for you and 5 guests, and a max speed of 60 miles per hour…. what more could you ask for.
