How can you improve on a power strip? How about making it completely flexible and letting you wrap it’s cord right around it? The Pivot Power is great take on portable power. It has six adjustable outlets that pivot to fit your power needs. Now those bulky power supplies won’t hit into one another.
It also has a super long (for a power strip anyway) 8.5 foot long cord that you can wrap around the outside of the Pivot Power when it’s folded up. There’s also a handle so you can grab it and go or just hang it up in your garage or shop.
It’s tidy economical cord management. The Pivot Power comes in a super bright yellow color (the cord too) for safety. Good stuff.

Finally an iPhone case that solves the “what to do with the headphone cord” problem. The Folio iPhone 5 case has a hinged compartment door that opens to reveal a cord management system for your earbuds. The exterior of the door has a 3 compartment leather wallet to hold your ID and credit cards. The hard plastic case protects your phone as well. No more cramming those earbuds into your pocket or wrapping them around the phone- now they have a storage place.

The whole thing measures 7″ by 8″ and is 3/4″ thick with felt feet on the bottom to prevent surface scratching. It almost looks like a ski hill for cables- but your cables have enough fun, they don’t need to go skiing. Uhhm well, that thought went off on an awkward tangent. Regardless, this docking station is simple, looks great, and keeps that tangle of cords nearly aligned.

The spring-loaded mechanism then winds up your cord around the middle. To use your cord just pull it back out and unhook it. It’s great for storing cables in your pocket or bag without them getting tangled up, or just to keep a neater desk or cable drawer. I tried a few different cable types- some worked better than others- a few were too stiff or thick, perhaps a large size Recoil would have helped.
The Recoil is a good solution to cord tangles but it’s not a great solution. The winding mechanism is a little tricky to get it go sometimes, took a little finesse. When it goes, it does wind up cables extremely fast- certainly much quicker than manually wrapping them around something. Note that it looks like using earbuds with a mic or volume control on the wire will either not work or possibly damage the mic as they wind up. So overall, it’s a solid but not perfect product. If you have a mess of cords and need a quick way to wind them up neatly, this might work for you.
If you have Beats by Dre or other “pro” style headphones, you know that they often have a cord length designed for NBA players. One person came up with a solution that’s better than just wrapping the excess cord around your iPhone 4/4S or jamming it all into your pocket in an unruly ball. Meet Cordli, the case with a groove to take out some of that excess cord length in a cool manner. It reminds me a bit of the Chisel iPhone dock. This is an on-demand 3D printed object and as such it does not have the low cost of a mass-produced case (it’s almost $50) but it could be worth it if it solves your cord problem.

You had me at “taco”. While it’s disappointing to read that these are not a tasty Mexican food item available with fresh guacamole for just $1 extra, they are super handy. These Cord Tacos are a simple cord-holding piece of leather shaped like a taco- a taco with a metallic button to keep your cords, headphone wires, and other types of cords tangle free and neat. Comes in a pack of 5 (2 large, 3 small) for $25, which makes them more expensive and less filling than a chicken taco.

Have you ever wanted to mount your iPhone on your fridge? Or shrink your Smart Cover to work with your iPhone? Now you can do both thanks to TidyTilt. The stand part of this accessory is interesting, but what I find the most novel are that the magnets of the cover are strong enough so that you can mount your iPhone onto any magnetically-responsive surface.
It’s a multi-purpose cover that doubles as a kickstand, earphone cord manager, and iPhone mount. It’s definitely an interesting accessory, though it will undoubtedly interfere with your favorite case.
