Hexbug RC Battlebots: Are You Not Entertained Mom?!

We’ll soon be able to conduct bot-on-bot mayhem without knowing a thing about building or repairing robots, thanks to toymaker Hexbug and its officially licensed Battlebots replicas.

The robots are based on some of the most popular competitors in the TV series: Bronco, Tombstone, Witch Doctor and last season’s champ, Bite Force. They come in different varieties, but the best ones are the remote-controlled variants. Their exterior panels are designed to fall off to indicate damage, but you can easily snap them back on. FamilyGamerTV checked out the robots at the New York Toy Fair:

The remote-controlled Battlebots will be sold for $30 (USD) each. But you may as well get the $70 two-pack, because that comes with a 20″x 20″ replica of the arena, giving you the full Battlebots experience.

Aquabots Let You Maintain an Aquarium Even if You Forget to Feed the Fish

Have you ever wanted a home aquarium, but were afraid your fish would end up dead due to neglect (or the cat?) Well, now you can have a little robotic swimmer who never needs anything more than a change of batteries.

Made by the guys behind the creepy, crawly Hexbug robots, Aquabots are little robotic fish which wriggle realistically through the water. Just drop them in the water, and they’ll swim around on their own. They automatically turn on when they come in contact with water – though they’ll only swim for five minutes at a time to conserve battery.

While the video below shows several Aquabots swimming in harmony, it’s not advised because big fish eat little fish their electromagnetic propulsion systems can interfere with one another. Though what’s the worst that could happen?

They come in either a shark or clown fish designs, in a wide variety of translucent colors, so you can see into their robotic guts as they swim around. You can find Aquabots over at Red5 for £7.95 (~$12 USD) each.

HexBug Nano V2: A Habitrail for Robo-Bugs

First there was the HexBug. Then there was the HexBug Nano. Now there’s HexBug Nano V2. Those creepy-crawly little self-propelled robots are back, and they’re better than ever. The latest iteration of these little robo-insects now has the ability to wriggle around not just on your tabletop, but actually climb.

The new HexBug Nano V2 can be set into a hamster-like maze and then can scurry about both horizontally and vertically. Naturally, you’ll want to buy not just the critters, but some of the bug maze kits for your insects to take up residence in as well. It’s not clear if they’ll function on other smooth vertical surfaces, but they navigate these see-through pipes with ease.hexbug nano v2 1
