Ultimate Shock-absorbing for Bikes

cushioning_01

This bike might just look like it has a set of cool-looking rims, but those rims are actually an innovative shock and tire system designed to maximize performance! The tire remains firm during normal road condition. However, when it runs on hills or over rocks, the tire and spring module bend to bear the brunt of the force. This increases both the damping and traction for the tire, resulting in a smoother, safer, more controlled ride.

The Life + Life Jacket

connect_life_jacket_1

The entire idea of having a smaller life jacket for a child seemed good until I saw the Connect Life Jacket. It made me ask two pretty serious questions. The first one was, why would you have a separate jacket for a child? There’s the danger of the child getting separated from the adult because the jackets aren’t connected. And two, instead of having one adult jacket and one child jacket, why not combine the two? That way even if just an adult wore it, it would only mean better flotation because of the bigger jacket, right?

The fact that the Connect Life Jacket makes you critically question an age-old existing design makes it a success. The Connect integrates mother and child into one single jacket (also adhering with the practice of evacuating “women and children first”), allowing the parent and child to stay safe and more importantly together in the event of a maritime crisis. The child’s positioning is convenient because it keeps it close to the mother’s heart. While this design definitely makes a great argument against separate life jackets, the only concern I have is that the child’s face is at a lower level than the parent’s, making it be the first to get submerged under the water. This decision allows the mother’s sight to be unobstructed by the baby’s head, but raises a concern for the child’s safety, if parent and child were to fall overboard. What do you think?

Fight Fire From Afar

aim_01

Not all fires are the same, so why should our extinguishers be any different? The Aim Fire Extinguisher is one alternative that offers an entirely new way of fighting fire. Specialized for tight spaces, its extendable nozzle can get right to the root of the fire or even be used to get between crevices. Operable with one hand, it also puts the user at a safer distance from direct flames. Compact and intuitive to use, it’s a great solution for convenient fire safety at home or as a supplemental unit in larger spaces.

Wash And Dry At Once

The Dry Hand’s Faucet incorporates the hand dryer within the faucet system. Basically after washing your hands you simply need to swivel the faucet head to activate the hand dryer. Looks to be a good solution for those who prefer the hot air dryer to the paper towel!

Dry Hand’s Faucet is a 2013 iF Design award – concept design entry.
