This Levitating Speaker Is a Floating Storm Cloud

What you’re looking at here is Making Weather, a fluffy cloud that levitates above its base while blasting your favorite tunes. This new weather phenomenon for your home comes from designer Richard Clarkson Studio and levitation platform experts Crealev.

When set up on its levitating base, the cloud hovers an inch or so above the surface while spinning continuously (with a slight bobbing motion), creating quite a sight in your home.

A induction-charged battery inside allows the cloud to operate untethered, although the mag-lev base will need to be plugged in. An Arduino-controlled lightning show flashes in sync with whatever music is playing.

Making Weather is just a prototype for now, but they are hoping to bring it to market soon.

Did you get that clever joke in the title?? Did you?? 😀

This little piece of magic, called Making Weather, puts a spin on the quantum levitation speakers we’ve been seeing in the past year. Making Weather isn’t really a levitating speaker as much as it’s an awe-inspiring piece of art. The hyperrealistic cumulus cloud hovers over a magnetic plate. Beneath its fluffy exterior lies a pretty darn powerful wireless speaker. Just to add some dramatic effect, the speaker cloud also comes with concealed lighting that pulsates to the tune of your audio, generating a pretty neat looking music-synchronized lighting flashes. What a wonderfully literal way to have booming, thunderous audio!
