MiniDive Pro Scuba Tank Offers Casual Divers A Compromise Of Sorts

If you want to explore the world beneath the surface of the water, your options are relatively limited. You either stay on the surface and snorkel around, maybe diving a little deeper for 30 seconds at a time while holding your breath. Or you have to get a full scuba gear, get some lessons, and go through an entire production in order to be able to leisurely explore deeper areas. But with the MiniDive Scuba Tank you can go up to 10 minutes underwater, to a depth of up to 3 meters while breathing normally. That’s deep enough to explore some coral reefs and take a closer look at some marine wildlife that would be just a bit too far for the casual snorkeler. The nice thing about the tank is that you can refill it yourself in 15 minutes with a special high pressure hand pump (like a bike pump). It’s been tested with all kinds of mandatory scuba diving standards and technically could go deeper than 3 meters, but since it’s marketed at non-divers, that’s the max depth you can go safely. It weighs all of 2.2kgs (4.8lbs), and comes with a special harness so you can have both your hands free as you dive. It’s $709 for the entire kit, including the high pressure hand pump.

Designed for the Depths

scuba_01

The Pearl Diver is a compact second-stage, scuba regulator that incorporates a streamlined aesthetic. The product was designed to be more hydrodynamic, allowing easy movement through the water when scuba diving. Its functional form incorporates two styles of streamlined design: one very curvilinear with wavy smooth surfaces and the other industrial and geometrical with hard shapes and line accents.

The placement of the hose makes for a less obstructive field of motion, moving from the side of the face, straight over the shoulder to the air supply on the back. The form also makes the bubbles flow around the back of the head when swimming to avoid getting in the way of the user’s vision.

The Sweet Spot Between Snorkel and Scuba

Even if you’ve mastered the “duck dive”, that average snorkel’s major limitation is that you can’t stay deep for very long to experience what’s underwater. Until now! STEPDive is a revolutionary design that allows users to stay many feet under the water as long as they’d like without coming up for air. The system uses a floating buoy in which hoses attached to the snorkel are tethered. Divers using STEPDive can go as deep as the hose allows and stay there to explore! Better yet, multiple users can tether to the buoy so you and friends or loved ones can experience underwater together. Intuitive to use and even easier to tote around, it’s a great first step toward true scuba diving!

One Breath

m_01

“M1″ doesn’t aim to redefine the scuba or reinvent the snorkel. It’s something entirely new and unlike any other underwater breathing apparatus! The design allows users to take one additional breath when diving, extending their time underwater by one minute. That may not seem like a lot, but it’s plenty of time to go places and see things users might not have been able to experience before! Using refillable cartridges, there are also expansions as users stretch their underwater breathing ability to extend their time to as much as two additional minutes. Do want!

Rebreathe Underwater

ORB is a diving helmet that uses a modern technology called “rebreathing” to recycle your own oxygen in order to breathe underwater. While most scuba equipment is heavy, bulky and uncomfortable, the lightweight unit is compact and easier to move with. The result is a relaxed and enhanced diving experience. Better yet, it’s equipped with built-in Bluetooth to communicate with other divers and socialize in the underwater environment.

Scuba Smart-Goggles

The key to a good scuba dive is knowing your surroundings, so the Scubus S provides multiple layers information to divers through augmented reality. More of a head-up display on the screen of the goggles, the wristband-controlled interface shows users vital info like depth, direction, water temp, air supply and more. Because safety is paramount in a dive, it immediately alerts to dangerous situations and gives users the ability to signal for help with the push of a button.

Google Street View gets its first underwater panoramic images, ready for desk-based scuba expeditions

After working on its sea legs for some time, Google Street View is ready to take users on virtual scuba expeditions through six living coral reefs with the first underwater panoramic images to hit the service. In partnership with The Catlin Seaview Survey, Mountain View created the on-rails snorkeling experiences using undersea pictures from Heron, Lady Elliot and Wilson Islands at the Great Barrier Reef, Molokini Crater and Hanauma Bay in Hawaii and the Apo Islands in the Philippines. Combined with views from Chichen Itza and Teotihuacan, the new underwater tours might make for a respectable, desk-based vacation. Interested in paddling through the briny depths?
