Flatev: The Tassimo For Tortillas

Flatev2

Tassimo will surely have a fit to see their brand name genericised like this, but we can’t help it. The Flatev is a single-serve, pod-using, tortilla-making machine… and we want one. You insert an uncooked pod of optionally flavoured tortilla dough, press a button, and a few seconds later you’ll be munching down on a freshly baked tortilla. There will be flour, corn, and blue corn tortillas, and each pod is expected to cost around $1. Yeah, we know, that’s highway robbery. But that’s the price you pay for this kind of product; you either get your tortillas pre-made and not-as-fresh, you make them yourself with some manner of labor, or you pay for something like the Flatev. The machine is expected to cost somewhere around $300, though details aren’t final yet. You can give them your email to be notified of when you can pre-order the thing. We’re not sure exactly when it’ll be available, but it’s going to be some time in 2015.
