Roomba Beer Pong Ups the Ante

Beer Pong has been around for ages, but maybe it’s time for an upgrade. Something that makes the game a bit more challenging. Someone came up with just the right idea: involve Roombas in the game.

Megan N documented this game of beer pong being played using two Roomba robotic vacuum cleaners. The Roombas keep the cups moving so that it won’t be so easy to get your ball in the cups.

It does tend to make this cheap game very expensive. As one Redditor comment points out, “All you need is 12 cups, some beer, and $800 worth of vacuum cleaners.” Regardless of the cost right now, this is clearly the future of Beer Pong.

Hexcups Change the Game of Beer Pong Forever

Here is the Beer Pong upgrade that you didn’t know you needed. Think of it as a structural engineering improvement for the game. Hexcups are way better than regular beer cups. That hexagonal shape makes them harder to crush for one thing, so they last longer.

Not only that but they fit together much more nicely and the edges are touching, so there’s no gaps, therefore no room for cups to fall over or move around during play. Using these cups is like playing the pro version of the drinking game.

For a $15(USD) pledge, you get a basic set of 22 cups and 3 balls. The Hexcup Kickstarter has already raised over $40,000 towards its $50,000 goal with 18 days to go, so there’s a pretty good chance it’s going to be funded.

LED Beer Pong Table Amps Up Your Party

Screen Shot 2015-11-10 at 12.01.00 PM

Being 35, the days of playing beer pong are far behind, sadly. But I don’t remember it ever being so big of a ‘thing’ as it seems to be now. There are even tournaments for the questionable “sport” in places like Las Vegas (and plenty of others, I assume, I just don’t get out much)! So I shouldn’t be surprised to hear about the LED Beer Pong Table. It’s a pretty awesome looking table with an infinity mirror, and hundreds of LEDs that create an illusion of endless space beneath the surface. The lights change and flash to the music, and can be controlled with an IR remote. Seen in action, it seems to be just the thing that drunken frat kids would love. The full metal construction means it won’t easily break, and magnetic locks keep it closed when folded. It’s “regulation size”, so, you know, you can even do tournaments we suppose.

It’s a $629 pre-order.

Robot Hand Masters Beer Pong: Because It Can’t Handle the Consequences

If you happen to be at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on January 6, drop by Empire Robotics‘ booth for a chance to challenge its robot to a game of beer pong. Spoiler Alert: it won’t miss.

Empire Robotics is setting up the demo to show off the capabilities of Versaball, its robotic gripper. Instead of fingers, it has a ball filled with sand-like material.

When the robot isn’t holding anything, air is pumped into the ball, loosening the grains inside. To grip an object, the air is sucked out of the ball. This causes the grains to compact around the object. This process is so precise that Versaball can grip delicate objects without crushing them.

Air is pumped back inside the ball to let go of the held object. If air is pumped back in with enough force, Versaball will end up throwing the held object. Thus, beer pong:

Bring your “A” game, CES attendees.

Clean Cup Portable Beer Pong Ball Washer

There are two things guaranteed to make your weekend a little bit better- beer pong and clean balls. We’re talking about ping pong balls (I think). End the use of the primitive “wash cup” to dip your balls in to clean them off and get your balls cleaner with the Clean Cup. Golf courses have a dedicated ball washer, so why not other sports like beer pong? How does it work? Magic:

Drop your ball in and press the button. 5 seconds later thanks to a stream of high powered water and a reusable filter, it’s clean. Even someone who just lost 10 rounds in a row of beer pong could do it (probably). This kickstarter is underway and if successful you can have clean balls just in time for back to school in the Fall. Keep your balls clean and your beer crisp.
