C1 Budde Lounge Chair’s form is made of a single line of stainless steel

This special lounge chair will have you inspecting every curve and detail. You will be amazed by how this furniture piece has been designed, starting with the steel material and the transparent acrylic glass. The combination of the materials makes it one attractive piece.

The C1 Lounge Chair is designed and manufactured in Germany. Its frame is 100% made of quality steel, transparent acrylic glass, and polished seat shells and measures 80 x 65 x 70cm. The chair has been recognized and shortlisted for the International Design & Architecture Award 2020 and the Ein&Zwanzig Newcomer Award 2020.

A series of furniture has been introduced to show off pieces with a formal language based on a hand drawing. It’s like calligraphy but only with a single line. The result is a form created by an interplay between drawing and a physical object.

The stainless steel frame can be in different color options. Three powder-coated color combinations are available. The acrylic seat shells are also ready in different colors. The chair is considered durable and can be adjusted to different body shapes and sizes. This is made possible by the clamps attached to the backrest of the frame. The chair’s flexibility and adaptability are for comfort and support.

This C1 Lounge Chair can offer an elegant appeal to private living rooms and hotel lobbies. It will also look great at fashion boutiques as if it’s an art sculpture. This minimalist chair is an adaptable seating system with an organic shape that looks pleasing and memorable. Johannes Budde said, “This process of intuitive form-finding to create a functional product leads to a symbiosis of form and function, which excites me.”

What also makes this a worthy choice is that it adheres to sustainability requirements, especially during the development process. The material finishes and details of the design add to the chair’s beauty. The shape and curves offer a bit of sensuality to the form.

We have seen a number of equally stunning and interesting chair designs recently. There is the Migo Chair designed from a single wood board. The Tippi Chair is meant to tilt and tip at a comfortable angle. The Please Hold Up Chair remains light and playful. The Meditation Chair is set to offer space and calmness while the Nodding Chair allows you to slightly rock your seat while reading. On some levels, this one is like the 3D-printed Central Knot Chair for its elegant lounge chair appeal.

The Migo Chair is another perfect example of what Covid can do. No, this isn’t something the virus had infected but a fruit of those times when people were asked to stay at home. The designer has personal reflections during the pandemic’s early days, and the result is the Migo.

A chair is an essential piece of furniture. Admit it or not, you can’t get enough of getting aesthetically pleasing and well-design chairs. The latest to be added to your list of interesting chair designs is the Migo which works both as a chair and as a side table.

Designer: Pascal Hien

We can’t really say which is the front or back but you can use the chair in several ways. The material used is American red oak so you know it can be very durable. What makes this more interesting is that it can be cut from just a single plank of wood, giving off a consistent grain. A chair made from a single piece of material also offers less wastage.

The Migo Chair was made in BENCHMARK’s workshop and was showcased at The Design Museum in London. Designer Pascal Hien for an exhibition called Discovered by Wallpaper and American Hardwood Export Council. It was created based on one’s perspective and experiences during the lockdowns because of Covid.

BENCHMARK is a British furniture design-build company. It was founded by Terence Conran and Sean Sutcliffe and has been helping many designers bring their designs come to life. Craft and craftsmanship are highly valued by Benchmark. The Migo’s production process just proves that as every detail is meticulously checked. It also demonstrates sustainability and wellness and keeps the legacy of making.

Pascal Hein Migo Chair 4

You can sit on the Migo Chair in either direction. You can use the upper part as a desk. You can probably put your laptop there when you need to finish work or when you need to send a quick email. It offers support when you’re tired or leave it as an accent chair in the living room. Its shape is unique so it can also be a conversation starter.

We have been seeing a number of quirky and interesting chair designs recently. The Kelp Collection was made from recycled fishnets. The Tippi Chair was meant to tilt and tip at a comfortable angle. We think the Please Hold Up Chair will also hold up even if it’s light. Of course, we also love the Chair with Extended Arms for the elderly.

Tippi Chair is meant to tilt and tip at a comfortable angle

Tippi Chair Concept

The chair is a piece of furniture with one primary purpose: to be sat on. It will never lose its purpose, and it will remain a significant fixture not just around the house but almost everywhere.

Chair design throughout the years has continued to evolve. You will no longer just find a basic chair because plenty of creative people are trying to reinvent design. The aesthetics of the chair often reflects the style of a designer. It also showcases a person’s thought process.

Designer: Joshua Corder

Tippi Chair Release

For Joshua Corder, the Tippi Chair tells us a person’s tendency to play with a chair, so it tips over. Instead of coming up with an asymmetrical chair, he comes with something that has a sloped back and angled front. The Tippi Chair’s name is derived from the “tip” movement.

The chair with the height of a stool offers a tip function which is made easier with a 5-degree tip angle. The Tippi Chair doesn’t really have separate legs but the front and back support serve the same purpose. There is a small curved backrest that makes it easy for anyone to grab and carry the chair. The space underneath serves as storage for your bag or shoes.

Tippi Chair Form Function

The Tippi Chair reminds me of some cool and quirky bookshelves. It’s stylish and something that would look great in a college dorm or a young couple’s apartment. It may also be ideal on an entryway, allowing you to sit down and wear or take off shoes with more convenience.

Tippi Chair Design

It really is more of a stool with its height. It’s not something you can use as a dining chair or as an office chair. It’s the kind you will place in corners or use to hold small objects for easy reach. We’re assuming this can hold most weight so it can also work as a step-stool for when you want to reach the top of a shelf or cabinet.

Tippi Chair Details

A number of interesting chair designs are being introduced left and right. The Please Hold Up Chair showed us what you can do with polyurethane foam. The Meditation Chair is made of  100% recycled plastic waste. There’s also the Flip Flap Children’s Chair. Looking very similar to the Tippi Chair is the Rool or Rocking Stool. It’s more of a rocking chair that can rock from side to side. Every chair we’ve featured here is decorative so we can say they all offer beautiful form and function.

Please Hold Up Chair remains playful and light yet durable

Please Hold Up Sample

Furniture items don’t always have to be made of wood. They don’t also have to be made of marble to be considered elegant. There are plenty of other materials that can be used that will give almost the same comfort, style, and impact.

Another material is polyurethane foam, as per an experiment that resulted in the PLEASE HOLD UP chair. The experiment was started as a way to check the possible structural capabilities of UP 40 polyurethane foam. Using a single material, the Please Hold Up was created. It’s only one of the many prototypes that are deemed to be successful.

Designer: Stefano Bassan and Gianluca Sigismondi (Finemateria)

Please Hold Up Stool

The Please Hold Up presented the correct proportions between a good structure and a chair. It is made of polyurethane foam UP 40, a relatively new material. The new high lift polyurethane foam is said to have been made using a variable pressure process.

As described, the char is made by operating two horizontal blade cuts. It comes in a boxy square shape and is very light. At first glance, it looks like it’s made of concrete, but it’s not.

Please Hold Up Details

Please Hold Up Details

The chair was designed by Stefano Bassan and Gianluca Sigismondi Finemateria. The design studio has always been into coming up with ideas and evoking emotions and memories in relation to the materials. The studio wants to tell stories by helping visualize processes, materials, and cultures. The Please Hold Up Chair by the designers is a result of a material-experimental process done right.

Please Hold Up is a significant project, but it’s not the only one that uses polyurethane foam. There have been previous projects that use the same material. Those AusAir’s botanical facemask’s outer covers were made from flexible polyurethane foam. Cold polyurethane foam injection was used for the Kokkode egg-shaped chair. The Squiggly Seating boasted stress-resistant polyurethane foam on a metal frame.

Please Hold Up Chair

Flying-Please-Hold-Up

Please Hold Up is a very light chair that appears to be fun and friendly. This furniture piece brings together aesthetics, form, and design. The uniqueness of the material allows the chair to show off soft geometries, a sculptural look, and durability. The chair is lightweight, but it can serve its purpose without compromising the quality—thanks to the polyurethane foam UP 40.

Please Hold Up Market

Please Hold Up

We see the Please Hold Up Chair in different styles and heights. There are chairs with a high backrest, while some have a low backrest. Others have nothing, so they appear to be more like stools.

This Meditation Chair will let you make space and have peace at the same time

Space Available Meditation Chair 2

Furniture items can now be considered as art pieces. The furniture design world has changed over the years, with many creatives and artists trying their luck to come up with masterpieces for the new century.

Space Available, a furniture and art studio based in Bali, Indonesia, has introduced the Meditation Chair. It is made from 100% recycled plastic waste, so you can say it’s a more environment-friendly choice. It’s a sustainable effort we believe can be and must be copied by more furniture makers.

Designer: Space Available

Space Available Meditation Chair

Many brands and companies have started to do their part in caring for the environment by making “greener” choices when it comes to materials and methods. Space Available is just one of those brands aiming to deliver long-term change for a better planet, one furniture piece at a time. The goal of Space Available is to start a circular future and inspire more sustainable living. The goal of this ecological studio is to deliver awareness and change through its designs. As a multidisciplinary creative platform, Space Available believes that ‘making space’ for oneself can help a person do the same for the world.

Space Available Meditation Chair 3

The Meditation Chair perfectly represents Space Available’s belief that one should allow himself to clear the mind and make space for his wellbeing. So obviously, the Meditation Chair is the perfect place for when you want to meditate or have a quiet time.

The Meditation Chair is supposed to offer you peace, but to the eyes, it can be a bit crazy because of the colors. But still, it’s fun and wild and is definitely a conversation starter. It has become a sculptural piece that shows off weaving craftsmanship.

Space Available Meditation Chair

The shape of the Meditation Chair starts with a rattan frame. It’s more like a low sofa with a unique shape made with 100% post-industrial recycled plastic. This chair was designed and made by master weaver and Balinese craftsman Nano Uhero. It even comes with a hand-stitched indigo-dyed cushion.

Don’t expect to find an exact copy if you are getting a chair because no two chairs are alike. Each comes unique with different hues, colors, patterns, shapes, and sizes. You can refer to the repair and recycling plan at the end of the chair’s life cycle or if it is damaged.

Space Available Meditation Chair

The Meditation Chair can also be the perfect lounge chair. With the colors and texture, the chair can fit most rooms where you intend just to chill and relax. It’s now ready for purchase, but unfortunately, it’s sold out on the product page.

Path Task Chair by Humanscale is made out of plastic ocean waste

New designs for office chairs are being introduced rapidly, especially since the pandemic forced many people to stay at home. Community lockdowns mean working or studying from home. And when things are done remotely, you must have a proper home office or online school setup.

There are plenty of office chairs available, but we are not sure what percentage is environment-friendly. There are green options, but we don’t hear much about them. The Path Task Chair is a fine example of a sustainable product that is made of recycled materials.

Designer: Todd Bracher

Path Task Chair 1

Humanscale has come up with a Path task chair made in the United States. So if you live in the US, you can easily buy the chair and not worry about additional carbon emissions due to shipping. The new Path Task Chair is available with a higher price tag that reads $1,200, but it’s greener in several ways.

The “new path forward” reference is for Humanscale’s efforts in choosing a new path where sustainability is part of the equation. For example, a chair uses about 22 pounds of recycled plastic—about half is ocean plastic, while the rest is from reclaimed fisherman nets. Humanscale aims to deliver eco-friendly products with materials that are sustainable and through a production process that also increases the project’s efficiency. The plant where the chair is manufactured in New Jersey is solar-powered and uses recycled rainwater. Humanscale is also proud to say that the Path Chair “removes 6 kg of CO2e from the atmosphere, replenishes 15 gallons of water, and generates 23 kWh of energy.”

Path Task Chair Inspiration

Humanscale wants to introduce a new standard in sustainability. Upcycling materials such as plastic nets and plastic containers greatly impact the planet. The top plate, arm support, and mechanism housing are made with post-consumer and industrial aluminum and steel. The chair’s structural components are “green” so you’re doing Mother Earth a favor.

Sustainable Path Task Chair

The company has been making waves in the industry by working on getting certifications that matter. Humanscale boasts of using healthy materials, sustainable operations, and material transparency. All these and more allow the firm to receive Level Certification.

Humanscale Path Task Chair Details

Path Task Chair Concept

Path Designer Todd Bracher describes the chair as not just “an exercise in aesthetics or an assembly of pre-existing components, rather it is ground up mechanical invention, material innovation, coupled with next-level sustainability.” Parts of the chair include a mesh-like textile called FormSense Eco Knit. This provides self-adjusting lumbar support that is a custom fit for every user. The yarn used is also made with 100% post-consumer recycled polyester from upcycled plastic bottles.

Path Task Chair Design

The Humanscale Path Task Chair is available in different colors and comes with a silhouette that can fit any home or office interior. It delivers seating innovation with ergonomic consideration for most of the population. The chair features Gravity Mechanism that adjusts recline support automatically for each user. It doesn’t come with any knobs or bulky levers.

This Reversible Chair is a desk chair and lounge chair in one

Nicola Stäubli Reversible Chair Release

Nicola Stäubli is a Swiss architect and designer who created the Reversible Chair more than a decade ago. So it’s an old project, but it’s one proof that a good design never goes out of style.

You can still have the Reversible Chair and won’t think it’s an old design. The designer thought of creating a seat with very minimal materials. Specifically, he only used textile and a metal frame so they are easy to source.

Designer: Nicola Stäubli

Nicola Stäubli Reversible Chair Design Concept

This thing is reversible as you can quickly flip the rear legs. Doing so will transform the chair into a lounge chair. It also comes with a reversible cover so you can enjoy two color versions of the textile. With the two forms and several colors, you can get different objects.

The set of steel tubes and the fabric is considered smart. You can assemble four different seats to match your need and style. All you need to do is flip over the rear legs to have a new chair.

Nicola Stäubli Reversible Chair Price

Nicola Stäubli Reversible Chair

This contemporary furniture item’s design is brilliant as it is a modular chair made from two simple materials. The pipe pieces can be pulled apart and combined to create a new chair. Depending on your need, it can be a lounge chair or a side chair. The swappable design makes it a winner even after it’s already a decade old.

The design is efficient, convenient, and easy to understand. Just by flipping the legs, you are provided a new seating you can use wherever, whether in the living room, dining room, patio, or even the office. This chair is perfect for those who always want to change things around the house. If you get bored with one look, you can flip the legs or the fabric cover.

Nicola Stäubli Reversible Chair Design

Nicola Stäubli Reversible Chair Concept

The shape of the Reversible Chair reminds us of the Reversible Seating from a few years ago. Instead of a new chair, you flip the backrest, and it turns into a desktop. Both modes offer ergonomic body positions, so no posture is compromised. It uses wood and metal, while the Reversible Chair uses steel and fabric only.

The use of fabric makes it easy to clean and change. Perhaps you can customize the two colors you want to inter-change. We see four colors available: Orange, Blue, Green, and something like Gray or Denim.

Nicola Stäubli Reversible Chair Details

Nicola Stäubli’s background in architecture comes in handy in designing the furniture piece. The designer knows what works, and his creation is something functional yet aesthetically pleasing. Even if it’s an old design, the chair’s aesthetic works and can fit most interiors.

ANYWAYS Concept Furniture can transform into a lounge chair, table, and storage

ANYWAYS Multipurpose Furniture

Multipurpose furniture pieces are perfect for small and compact homes. There is a demand for such items because of limited space, as well as, the need to keep clutter at bay.

When a furniture item is not frequently used, it could be deemed a waste, but that doesn’t have to happen. Multi-function products are essential, especially these days when people are trying to keep things simple. ANYWAYS is a solution for people who live in small spaces yet want to have the full benefits of having different furniture pieces.

Designer:
Kshitij Gangurde

ANYWAYS Furniture

The ANYWAYS concept furniture can work as a lounge chair for relaxing. Flip it and then it can work as a dining or work table. The space underneath can then be used for storage as a shelf where you can put some books or maybe pillows or a blanket. You can use the space in either mode, depending on your need.

The furniture concept shows us one structure can be used for different purposes. It can be a chair or a table, but you can mistake it for a sculpture on its own. It can also be another conversation starter because of the unique design.

ANYWAYS Multipurpose Furniture Piece

ANYWAYS Furniture Sketch

ANYWAYS appear to be wooden, but we won’t be surprised if versions with different materials like plastic or concrete will be introduced. The concrete version may be challenging to flip because of the possible weight. A plastic version may be lighter, but durability may be compromised. At the moment, we believe wood is the best material to use.

ANYWAYS Chair to Table

ANYWAYS can be a table, shelf space, and a relaxing chair in one. The table mode may be low, but it’s the kind usually seen in Korean or Japanese homes. The shelf space is just enough for you to store things you want to reach easily.

The lounge chair mode doesn’t appear to be very comfortable because there is no foam used anywhere. We just know you can be free to lay down here to relax or take a nap. You can position it in your living room and not worry about it blending with your interior, as it can match most homes with its minimalist look. The multipurpose furniture can be used in any way you want but is limited to home functions only. Perhaps kids can use it as a play gym where their imagination can go wild.

ANYWAYS Inspiration

The designer of this concept is an Industrial Design student from Australia. Kshitij Gangurde’s design principle is to develop possible solutions to problems with an innovative form and design. He usually starts his process by sketching and then generating a concept design. ANYWAYS was an idea introduced in 2020, back when people were forced into lockdown due to the pandemic. We see this as more than just a product of boredom but out of the need to improve the home.

Monom Seater Concept Design rotates and adapts to human height

Monom Seater Sample

Seating in public places is usually basic and boring. Not that form is a more critical function, but anyone can use the environment to express creativity and stir the imagination.

Design in public spaces is crucial because it can evoke many different feelings. It plays an essential role as these spaces are for the consumption of people who use them for various purposes. When it comes to public seats, the Monom Seater is potentially a winner.

Designer: Jurgis Judžentis

1

The concept furniture piece is ideal for private establishments and public places that may need a waiting area or temporary sitting. It appears like an art piece or an interactive sculpture because of the rotating part. The Monom features a monumental concrete section that makes the seat stable on the ground. In addition, the wooden seat actually rotates to adjust to the height of a person.

Although we believe there are still limits to who can sit, the wooden seat accommodates different heights. There is no weight restriction but since this is only a temporary seating solution, it may still work. The wooden part appears to have a smooth finish and it’s a half-sphere that can rotate up to 10-degrees only. Kids will probably want to play with the moving part when not in use.

Monom Seater

Monom Seater Design

Designer Jurgis Judžentis knows industrial design and specializes in furniture and interior objects. The Monom is meant for public sharing, to be sat on, and to be admired. Looking at Jurgis Judžentis’ portfolio, his designs are mainly industrial as he regularly uses wood, concrete, and neutral colors. His style appears to be industrial minimalist, which is trendy these days.

The concept design by the young designer from Lithuania has the potential to become popular. The monumental concrete base is assumed to be really sturdy. We’re just not sure about the rotating seat, but we’re assuming it will be enough to carry average human weight.

Monom Seater Concept

Monom Seater Concept Design

We imagine seeing this Monom Seater in public spaces and even private establishments. Perhaps we can see a few units together with the BAMO Chair. They will probably look good together and may complete the look of a given public space. The design of the seat is simple yet one that will capture attention. When it comes to public seating, there are plenty of other design choices like the Surf Bench, the Blok system, the Flair, and that public seating design from Shoeb Khan.

Felipe Pantone x Poltrona Frau Archibald Chair introduced with a colorful print

Felipe Pantone x Poltrona Frau Archibald Armchair Design Details

Poltrona Frau is a famous Italian furniture maker that specializes in leather seating. The brand has recently teamed up with another big name in the design industry to give color to its iconic Archibald armchair.

The team-up is a celebration of Poltrona Frau’s 110th anniversary. The pair has resulted in a colorful iteration of the Archibald using artist Felipe Pantone’s signature geometric shapes, a prism of neon gradients, and jagged grids and optical patterns. The classic seat gets a more modern version in the choice of design.

Designer: Felipe Pantone

Felipe Pantone x Poltrona Frau Archibald Armchair Limited Anniversary Edition Details

Felipe Pantone x Poltrona Frau Archibald Bundle

Artist Felipe Pantone came up with a grid pattern to be used on the leather surface of the Archibald chair. The result is a pixelated effect similar to a heat map showing warm and cool temperatures. The base and metal legs of the chair remain slim but are now with a Multicolor Natural Chrome finish. The effect is an iridescent purple-blue finish that glimmers under the light.

The Anniversary Limited Edition Archibald by Poltrona Frau is made of the company’s Impact Less leather. It is a “green” and free material requiring fewer chemicals and water consumption. The Spanish designer Felipe Pantone chose the Archibald for the Pantone X Poltrona Frau collaboration. He visited the Poltrona Frau headquarters to observe the designs, drafts, and archives to see what could be done. The Archibald Chair ended up being his choice because of the arms and backrest’s minimal frame and unique form.

Felipe Pantone x Poltrona Frau Archibald Armchair Limited Anniversary Edition

Felipe Pantone’s dynamic and loud style is evident in the limited edition Archibald chair. Pantone’s work process is extraordinary, yet the result is always a masterpiece. Once he enters his creative zone, expect something beautiful will come out. Poltrona Frau and Pantone printed a design on the leather material. The design appears to be a pixelated image, which you see in low-res videos or pictures. It shows the digitization of something, resulting in small blocks in different colors. Those who know Minecraft will probably remember the beloved game instead.

Felipe Pantone x Poltrona Frau Archibald Armchair Limited Anniversary Edition Photos

The Archibald Anniversary Limited Edition is one of a kind. We can see Poltrona Frau’s craftsmanship, plus the aesthetics based on modern design. The Pelle Frau Leather looks vibrant with yellow, orange, red, white, and blue colors. Every part of the chair bears a new pattern of the Felipe Pantone print. When you buy a piece, you will receive a special genuine leather cleaning kit for the Archibald Limited Anniversary Edition. It will also come with a special clutch that contains a special hand-signed certificate of authenticity.

Felipe Pantone is not to be confused with the Pantone company but the two entities are both in the design world. As for Poltrana Frau, we previously mentioned its collaboration with Ferrari. The results were two officer chairs: the high-backed President and the smaller Executive chair. Poltrona Frau collabs with some of the best brands in the world so we know the latest limited edition offering will definitely sell.
