Do Hue have the Time?

Time is precious, and many of us have our own perceptions on telling it. Whether that be the color of the sky, the dial on a watch or even the ending music of your favorite show on TV. Dae-hoo Kim describes it as a numerical representation of a moment.

“Our time is flowing, time and light are most closely related. Through this design, I wanted to express the continuous change of light with the clock.”

Smartly designed, the internal gradient comprises of a palette which expresses emotions for the time and continuous light changes during a day. While the hour hand rotates 360 degrees for 12 hours, the internal color palette rotates only 180 degrees – providing a full 24 hour day. Albeit this clock may be more challenging to read with its minor ambiguities, it is a beautiful reminder of time, and its emotional complexities not often seen on a daily basis.

A clean office space needs clean water

chpi_620_water_purifier_01

The office space used to be one of ‘trendy’ patterns on office dividers, chairs that offered no lumbar support but had an abundance of cushioning and outdated phones/water dispensers/kitchen appliances and more. There has been a silent office space revolution happening underneath us, and I think we’re all with it. Dae-hoo Kim certainly is, with his redesign of the water purifier, the CHPI-620. This device not only purifies water but also produces ice. This is a combined water purifier + ice maker that can be installed in homes and businesses to purify tap water of contaminants such as fine particles, rust residue, heavy metals, and chlorine using multiple filters and provide its users with clean drinking water and ice. It’s designed with its ice-making feature on the left and its purified cold/hot/room-temperature water features on the right so anyone can use it easily and intuitively. The purifier itself is gorgeously simplified with two pads signifying the interaction points for the user of both the ice and the water outputs. The bottom ledge cleanly reaches out, inviting the user to rest their glass upon it during the filling process. With a backlit indication and a larger aperture, it is evident which nozzle is the ice and which is the water, adding once again to what is a subtle yet attractive enhancement to the workspace.

In-house Volcano

I love the way designer Dae-hoo Kim has taken away the focus from the form and driven it to the process of vapor creation in this Volcano Humidifier. No doubt the design is classy, but the whole idea of a volcano shaped humidifier emitting doughnut-shaped condensed vapor is a lot more appealing. Take a look at the video to see how it’s done. Absolutely stunning; just like a volcanic eruption!

Volcano Series Humidifier is a 2013 IDEA Awards winner.

Oh, So Pure Air!

The APM-1211GH is a multi-functional air purifier with a system to remove fine dust, viruses and toxic gases. The humidification & dehumidification system uses a naturally evaporating humidification filter. Designed to look like a vase, the appliance blends into the home environment easily.

The wood-pattern control section is touch-sensitive and the LED lights under the control section are naturally shiny to display the operating function. Simple and functional!
