Your smartphone and / or tablet is just begging for an update. From time to time, these mobile devices are blessed with maintenance refreshes, bug fixes, custom ROMs and anything in between, and so many of them are floating around that it's easy for a sizable chunk to get lost in the mix. To make sure they don't escape without notice, we've gathered every possible update, hack, and other miscellaneous tomfoolery we could find during the last week and crammed them into one convenient roundup. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean rollout begins for Droid RAZR HD, RAZR Maxx HD

All it took was two months and a weekend. True to its word from this past Friday, Verizon's begun rolling out the much anticipated Android 4.1 update to both the Droid RAZR HD and Droid RAZR Maxx HD. As our tips box can attest, OTA update notifications are slowly, but surely hitting users' devices, bringing with it Project Butter, Google Now and ISIS enhancements. But don't fret if you're not seeing anything just yet -- Big Red's noted that Jelly Bean will arrive "in phases," so you'll have to practice some patience. Or continue to mash that system update button. Your choice.

Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx HD hands-on: bigger battery, beautiful display, Jelly Bean onboard

Every family has a big brother and in Motorola's case, it's the Droid RAZR Maxx HD. The device, bearing a 4.7-inch 1,280 x 720 Super AMOLED HD display and running Android Jelly Bean (on these demo units, at least), just went official at the company's event today in New York City. And to help with the bombast, HelloMoto! trotted out Google's Eric Schmidt, giving these three Verizon RAZR amigos a hearty welcome. Under the hood, the handset sports a dual-core 1.5GHz S4 CPU, 32GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera on back and, last but not least, the star of this show: a 3,300mAh battery. We spent some time with this Kevlar-coated phone, so follow along as we deliver our first impressions.
