(Though it might look like it!) From afar, the Silhouette lamp might look like your run-of-the-mill floor lamp… but take a closer look and you’ll see it’s anything but average!

It earns its name from the visual illusion of a shade created by its frame. A near flat LED is cleverly placed where light would shine through a normal shade to further enhance the illusion. Above the light source, a flat surface makes a perfect place for plants, decor other other objects of display! Near the base, a cleverly designed cable management system helps organize and keep excess cord out of the way.

Monolithic Lighting

As its name suggests, the wonderfully dramatic Obelisk floor lamp takes the shape of a pillar without all the density! The rod lamp frame forms a simple silhouette that perfectly complements minimalist interior spaces. Better yet, it won’t visually weigh down your room as you can see right through it! Its contrasting vibrant color cord can be adjusted to set the light at any height between rods.

BB-8 Life-Size LED Floor Lamp

The best new addition to the Star Wars universe in Episode VII is hands down the cute and handy droid, BB-8. He makes every scene he’s in better and brighter. And now you have the chance of doing the same thing in your home with a BB-8 floor lamp.

Lunar-inspired Lighting

Inspired by the designer’s meditative time on a trip to the desert, the 2 Moons lighting series is a reflection on that bright, full-mooned night. There are always two faces to every moon but we are only able to admire one at a time. In floor and table lamp models, the design pays tribute to the unseen face with sets of two flat “shades.” Each shade is adjustable and can be moved upward and downward to create different configurations.

Dutch design firm V3RS starts its premier series of lighting with this modern take on the tube light, the UTL floor lamp. Two stainless steel rods rise from the floor, connected by a U-shaped bulb at the ends. Its slim silhouette makes it perfect for those smaller, in-between spots in the home.

Man’s Best Lamp!

This creative floor lamp takes the shape of a playful pooch for tail-wagging fun and instant illumination! Composed of a red cloth covered cord that looks like a leash and LEDs inside laser-cut plexiglass, the design is lightweight and durable enough to “walk” around your home. You can even set it down to “stay” or tilt it upright to “stand” … I wish my pups were so behaved!

Megaton Lamp Made from an Actual Bomb

This lamp is the bomb. Literally. It was created by Stockpile Designs of Brooklyn, NY, and is called the Megaton floor lamp. It uses the hand-polished casing of a Korean War-era 100-lb kinetic bomb and is seated 42 inches above the ground by a narrow stand instead of residing in a bomb bay ready to ruin someone’s day.

Its makers strip the old paint away and the steel is hand-polished until it gleams. Unlike the bomb in it’s explosive state, it is easy to disassemble. An optional linen shade hides the dual bulb sockets. The Megaton floor lamp will blow you away despite being disarmed, since it costs a crazy $1,680(USD).

I would suggest placing a Wile E. Coyote figure underneath, as if the Road Runner has gotten him again and he is about to get blown up.
