Tail Light LED System Keeps You Safe… On A Horse

Unless you live in a rural area, you probably don’t spend a lot of time thinking about horses. But it’s a fact that lots of people still ride them and often share the road with passing motorists. Unlike mechanical vehicles, horses don’t have tail lights… until now. The, well, the Tail Lights system is a kit with LED lights that attach to a horse’s tail and breast collar. This way the rider and his steed is visible from both sides. LED Beer Pong Table Amps Up Your Party

Being 35, the days of playing beer pong are far behind, sadly. But I don’t remember it ever being so big of a ‘thing’ as it seems to be now. There are even tournaments for the questionable “sport” in places like Las Vegas (and plenty of others, I assume, I just don’t get out much)! So I shouldn’t be surprised to hear about the LED Beer Pong Table. It’s a pretty awesome looking table with an infinity mirror, and hundreds of LEDs that create an illusion of endless space beneath the surface. The lights change and flash to the music, and can be controlled with an IR remote. Seen in action, it seems to be just the thing that drunken frat kids would love. The full metal construction means it won’t easily break, and magnetic locks keep it closed when folded. It’s “regulation size”, so, you know, you can even do tournaments we suppose.

LED tech has advanced quite a bit in recent years as they’ve gotten brighter and started consuming even less energy. The Luminoodle has a questionable name, but is in fact a pretty useful product.

Everbright Is Like A Giant Lite-Brite For Adults

Remember the Lite-Brite? Yeah, we had fun with that as kids, but now that we’re adults, we’re delighted to realize we could still let our creative juices flow with an updated, “grown-up” version of the product. It’s called Everbright, and it’s a giant 4′ X 8′ wall-mounted board with 462 full-spectrum LEDs. You can set the color of each dial by turning it, and can reset the whole board at the touch of a button. The board is also capable of animations.

It’s a great product to get for an office, for instance, where you can foster team-building and a calmer, more relaxed work atmosphere. You can, of course, get it for the home too, but at $25,000 for the mid-line model, you’re going to want to think twice about just how badly you want to relive your childhood at home.

Flailing Your Arms Around On A Bike Isn’t The Most Efficient Way To Signal, The Lumos Helmet Is

Bicycle riders are extremely vulnerable on the road, and despite many using their hands to signal their intention to turn, two cyclists a day lost their lives in 2013 in the USA. Especially in the dark, hand signals are hard to see, but the bright LEDs on the Lumos helmet? These are unmistakable. Directly integrated into the helmet, the LEDs allow you to signal with the flick of a wireless remote mounted on the handlebar. Additionally, a red triangle remains lit on the back, encouraging motorists to proceed with caution. On the front are white LEDs which also remain lit all the time, making you more visible from the front. And finally, an integrated accelerometer activates as a brake light! The helmet is waterproof, meets many safety certifications, and the batteries are easily rechargeable through USB. If you want your own, you’ll have to pledge $99 on their fully-funded Kickstarter.

Shoes With Light Up Soles

You don’t know you want shoes with light up soles until you want shoes with light up soles. It’s one of those things that only a very narrow demographic band will enjoy, like fans of electronic music and chemical “mood enhancers”, for instance. They’re a bit of a novelty item, sure, and you couldn’t just wear them anywhere, but in the right time and place, these are great. Better yet is the fact you’ll have to pay only $79 to get a pair, which isn’t all that bad considering the 8 hour runtime, and optional cycling colors.

GravityLight Is Back, Brighter, And More Robust

The GravityLight is powered by, well, gravity. You attach it to a strong beam, tie a 12kg weight to it (made from rocks or sand), and let gravity pull it down. As it does, it powers a set of gears inside, which drive a DC generator that produces one-tenth of a Watt. That’s enough to power the LED for up to 25 minutes at a time. When that’s over, just hoist the weight back up and keep going. This is great for developing nations which often rely on Kerosene lamps that are not only polluting, but noxious, and potentially dangerous. The makers of the GravityLight already made one last year, but this new model is brighter, more robust, easier to use, and can provide light even as it is being charged. More importantly perhaps, it is being assembled right in Kenya, which will provide some jobs to the very people it is meant to help. You can get one yourself for a $70 pledge, all the while knowing you’re contributing to a good cause.

Flyte Levitating LED Lightbulb Is Awesome

What do you get when you combine the power of electromagnetic induction, and uh, magnets? You get the Flyte LED Lightbulb, of course. Much like the wireless smartphone chargers you see today, this LED bulb is powered from a distance through the magic of electromagnetic induction. But the added flair in this product is that the entire bulb and housing levitate above their base, slowly rotating. The base is plugged into an outlet and some electromagnets keep the bulb in place, while powering the LED. 5V of power are sent through the air, which is enough to generate a modest 60 Lumens. At $249 it’s on the very pricey side, but think of the amazed looks on your guests’ faces and maybe you’ll think it’s worth it.
