How to Build a Better Mouse Trap

If you discover that you have a mouse in your home, you don’t mess around with dinky little traps. You need a trap that shoots a volley of arrows at that little sucker. Turnah81 has made just such a mouse killer. This trap features an array of twelve mousetrap-triggered catapults that fire arrows made from wooden kebab skewers. They have enough force to turn a rodent into a pincushion.

To create this “better” mouse trap, he had to solve a few tricky problems like matching the power of multiple rubber bands and creating a linkage capable of triggering twelve mousetraps at once, or as closely timed as possible. So he used a system of bent coat-hanger wires actuated by the falling bar of each trap, that triggers each successive trap in a nice display of arrow firepower. It’s pretty similar to that bit of Raiders of the Lost Ark where all the arrows go firing out of the wall at Indy.

If you have a mouse problem this setup will end that problem quickly. The mouse doesn’t stand a chance. Just don’t walk in front of this thing or you are going to get several arrows to the knee, ankle, and feet.

I’m not sure if mice travel in packs, but if they do this baby will take out an entire mouse family for you.

Catching Real Mice with the Mouse Trap Board Game

Shawn Woods has a YouTube channel dedicated to testing different kinds of mouse traps. It’s pretty entertaining stuff. His latest video might just be the weirdest one yet, or the coolest depending on your point of view. He used the Rube Goldbergesque “Mouse Trap” board game to capture an actual mouse. Impractical? Sure. But a very fun way to catch rodents. How many kids have dreamed of this through the years? Now, one man has done it.

Don’t worry, no mice were hurt in this experiment. In fact the little critter got a treat for participating. The first trap is used to pull the crank which gets the board game started when the mouse steps on the pad The game goes through its little routine as metal balls roll down tracks, etc., and eventually the second real mousetrap is triggered.

The whole thing works pretty flawlessly. So if you ever need to catch a mouse and all you have is this board game, now you know what to do. I seriously doubt you’ll ever find yourself in that situation, but you never know. Always be prepared, that’s what I say.

Admiral Ackbar Mouse Trap: IT’S A TRAP!!

Admiral Ackbar wasn’t exactly a big character in the Star Wars films. We only remember him because of his fish-like features and his famous “It’s A Trap!” line in Return of the Jedi. Ackbar has found new life on the web as a meme, and some geek genius has burnt his face onto an actual trap.

Behold the Admiral Ackbar mouse trap. A dude named Cullen Sweet made these. The traps are etched with the Ackbar Brand name. Of course, they’re manufactured in Mon Calamari, Ackbar’s home planet. These are pretty awesome. I seriously doubt these are official Star Wars products, so Disney will likely take offense.
