Your friendly crustacean ladle-station!

Meet Red. He’s an obedient, adorable little crab that’s more than ready to help while you’re cooking. Made from food-grade high-quality silicone, Red fits onto the rim of any cooker or saucepan, with its tentacles upright, waiting to hold onto your spoon or ladle. Rather than resting your dirty ladle on a clean kitchen counter, Red holds onto it for you, keeping your hands free while its hands are occupied… and the little guy comes with a rotating torso too, so you can place your wet, dripping ladle in a way that it falls right back into your cooking vessel! Go ahead and rely on Red… He’s sure to give you a helping hand, I mean, helping claw…!

These paper-clips will have you ‘buzzing’ with productivity!

That title isn’t the only bee-related pun I’ve got, if you’re wondering. I had one where I couldn’t BEE more excited, and another one involving the word ‘buzz-iness’ that I decided to give a miss, but I digress. These un-bee-lievably cute (haha!) paper clips come from the fine people at OTOTO, a company that literally makes some of the most adorable products on the planet. Titled the Busy Bees, these clips come in the shape of a single bumblebee that holds your pages together, and are collectively stored in a honeycomb-shaped clip-holder. Each bee is made out of a magnetic material too, allowing you to secure your notes to a metal surface like a cabinet or a magnetic whiteboard… although if I were you, I’d buy them and use them for myself because there’s no way I’m trusting any of my colleagues or friends with these bee-utiful creatures!

The Tipi snack dish is a playful way to serve up your finger-foods!

Bringing a bit of rustic and indigenous to your next dinner party, the Tipi is OTOTO’s take on a toothpick holding finger-foods plate. The plate resembles a plot of land, with a teepee tent right in its center, and the toothpicks sit right inside the tent’s open top, looking like the exposed wooden pieces that you’d often see at the top of a traditional teepee tent. The toothpicks are fanned out in a way that makes them easy to grab onto, and pick up the food around the tent with.

Designed by the ever-playful OTOTO, the Tipi snack dish is a part of their new collection, and can be pre-ordered from their website.

This adorable spaceman bookmark marks your literary adventure with a flag

Accompanying you on the adventures of fiction, following your journey into parts of your mind that you’ve never visited before, Spacemark is your faithful sidekick that marks your book when you’re done for the day. This metal bookmark resembles a spaceman burying a flag into a planet. The flat, 2D planet slides between the pages, making it look almost like your spaceman sidekick’s marked your book with his trusty-old flag, so you know exactly where to begin from the next time you open the book to dive into your literary adventure!

This jolly old, back-scratching Grizzly bear will grate your veggies, herbs, and cheeses!

They say bears usually have a favorite tree to scratch their backs on. Not Barry though, because this lovable grizzly will scratch his back against any of your vegetables, aromatics, herbs, or cheeses! The uniquely playful grater comes from OTOTO, one of our favorite design houses, as a part of their new kitchen and home items catalog.

Barry’s back-scratching abilities work best with carrots and cheeses, as its metallic back grates your produce to a fine pile that gathers right inside Barry’s chubby old body. Lift Barry up and your grated cheese or carrot is collected in a nice pile, ready for you to use in your cooking or garnishing!

This species of platypus lets you clean out your nutella jars

Built on the idea of a rubber spatula, but with OTOTO’s unique brand of playful storytelling, the Splatypus is a spatula modeled on the duck-billed platypus. With a body meant for gripping, and a silicone beak that’s great for spreading jams, pastes, and spreads, the Splatypus is almost like a modern day interpretation of a product you could find in the Flintstones.

The rubber bill of the platypus is perfect for spreading, as well as cleaning jars out, allowing you to scoop out every bit of goodness from jars containing jams and spreads like Nutella, making sure there isn’t a single ounce of wastage! Additional points to the packaging for being so comically to-the-point!

Get a Grip On Your Jar!

zipeat_jaropener_01

Whether it’s holding it under water or leaving it upside down for 10 seconds, it seems like everybody has their own secret (and usually ineffective) way to open a jar. Well, toss your mama’s trick in the trash because now there’s one surefire way to get it open each time! It’s called Zip-Eat and it gives your muscles and grips the extra oomph they need.

Made of a flexible, gripping material and equipped with a unique zipper-lock mechanism, it can clasp on to any size jar lid. Simple affix it to the lid, tighten it up, and twist! The only downside is that you won’t be able to look like a tough guy because your significant other will be able to do it themselves!

The Citrus-loving Octopus!

octo_citrus_1

Now correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve never seen a BBC Documentary talking about the octopus’s obsession with oranges. However, that shouldn’t stop your imagination from running, now should it? OTOTO’s Octo is probably the world’s first and only citrus-friendly sea creature. Its shape is designed to resemble the octopus’ eight-tentacled form, but at the same time, it’s perfect for gripping, and also for juicing, allowing you to use its organic tentacular base to squeeze fresh juice out of all citrus-based fruits, from oranges to limes, to the occasional grapefruit.

OTOTO’s products always embody a certain familiar friendliness. Designed to be appealing to the child in you, the Octo, and all of OTOTO’s products possess a storytelling quality, connecting form and even sometimes name to something out of our imagination, letting you build complex wonderlands by just owning and using their products. Great job, OTOTO! You’ve won our hearts again!

On a potato mashin’ mission!

ototo_potato_masher_1

OTOTO remains one of our favorite design-embracing companies. They have a way of linking products and experiences in a way that’s innocent and delightful, creating products that tell stories and become favorites even before being bought!

Take for instance the Space Masher, a rocket turned potato masher that makes the mashed potatoes look like clouds of smoke a space rocket would leave behind (I’m very tempted to make a Spud-nik reference from Friends). The Masher wonderfully fulfills visual as well as functional requirements, becoming a product that isn’t just a novelty… It’s comfortable to use too! What a wonderful way to get kids to help in the kitchen, I say!
