Got An Apple Watch? Starwood Hotels Opens Its Doors To You
Well, more specifically, you’ll be able to open your hotel room door simply by walking up to it with your Apple Watch, after you’ve checked in, remotely. The Bluetooth functionality will be used to unlock the door from a distance, making your keyless entry seamless and effortless. Better yet, you’ll be able to bypass going to the front desk altogether, and skip any long lines that may be present. Note that this functionality is only extended to those who are members of the group’s SPG rewards program.
“After registering for SPG Keyless, the Apple Watch will automatically send guests their room number and will function as their hotel room key at any SPG Keyless enabled Starwood hotel allowing guests to bypass the front desk (where available).”
Not all of the group’s hotels will support the feature right off the bat, but the company is hoping to roll out the feature to over 30,000 of its hotel rooms soon.
While we can’t say we’re overly bullish on the Apple Watch, the truth of the matter is that many people will get one, so you might as well find out what sorts of things you’ll now be able to do with it, other than count the number of steps you take in one day.

The ONLY Hotel Room In Cinderella’s Castle
This is the Cinderella Castle Suite, the one and only hotel room inside The Magic Kingdom. It was originally intended for Walt Disney himself, but the magical accommodations were only recently completed in 2005. A very select few people have had the privileged to stay there, like Kevin Jonas, one of the Jonas Brothers, and his wife. The suite is perhaps the most exclusive hotel room in the whole damn world considering no amount of money can reserve you a spot there. So yeah, that’s about as exclusive as anything can get. For all the money in the world they wouldn’t let you stay there. No one can have it. Unless you’re a Jonas Brother. Which… you’re probably not. But if you are? OMG OMG OMG can I get your autograph? Uh, it’s for my little sister. But go ahead and make it out to me and I’ll make sure she gets it.
Stay at the Cake Hotel for the Sweetest Dreams
The world’s first “cake hotel” opened up in Soho, Central London and it’s a sweet dream come true. Guests will be welcomed to rooms filled delicious decor like vanilla sponge cushions, a meringue rug, window sills made of fudge, and a bathtub filled with caramel popcorn. Of course the next morning will probably play out much like every November 1st ever, as they wake up from a terrifying sugar-high induced nightmare with a massive belly ache. Totally worth it though! The hotel contains 8 tasting rooms with different themes like Pirates of the Caribbean, Mardi Gras, and more.
SQUEE!: A Panda-Themed Hotel
If there’s one thing a hotel should have, it’s a theme. Also, complimentary hot breakfast. None of that contenintal business. Ooh, and it needs a pool. Preferably heated. Hopefully this Panda Themed Hotel has all three. It’s apparently the world’s first of its kind. Admittedly that’s not particularly hard to believe. The cuddliest hotel in history is opening in Sichuan, China sometime in May 2013. Great! Soooo if they don’t have the breakfast or pool sitch covered, they got some time to make it happen. Don’t disappoint me!
