Canvas is Half Painting, Half Chair

canvas chair Canvas is Half Painting, Half Chair
If you think this painting of a chair looks good enough to sit on, you’re in luck because you actually can do just that. The Canvas (designed by YOY) is made to look like a canvas painting but work like a chair. It’s made from a wood frame covered by an elastic fabric. The elastic fabric stretches out so you can sit yourself right in the painting. Bet you can’t do that with the Night Watch (trust me, I tried and am now banned from most major museums).

It’s probably ok to sit on the arms of this one. An image of an armchair is printed right on the fabric. The result is a highly portable seating option that you can easily stow away when not in use. A chair that looks like a work of art. It’s also available in sofa form:

It’s like a spare couch you can store behind your couch, or hang on your wall. You might have to explain how to use it to your guests though. Measures 59″ H x 43.3″ W for the armchair and 51.2″ H x 74.8″ W for the sofa.

Giant Stuffed Cat Couch

cat couch Giant Stuffed Cat Couch
It might be pretty creepy to rest your weary bones upon this gigantic stuffed cat couch but it sure looks mighty comfy. Instead of your cat being on the sofa, your sofa is the cat or your cat is the sofa or your cat is on the cat sofa. Or something like that, I’ve confused even myself. Sofa king cool. Chewbacca Inspired Sofa Just Needs Bandolier Pillows

chewbacca sofa Chewbacca Inspired Sofa Just Needs Bandolier Pillows
I don’t know about you but whenever I watch Star Wars I think to myself “wow, I wish I was sitting on Chewbacca”. Well now I can (and maybe I actually am for all you know) with this Chewy inspired Long Wool Sofa. All it needs is some bandolier pillows, a little attitude, and a tough yet lovable smuggler pilot to ride along.

The sofa itself is made of Icelandic sheepskin wool (one my personal top 5 favorite types of wool) and reclaimed oak boards for a one-of-a-kind furniture piece. It might be a sofa, but we’d recommend you don’t try to play chess against it. Seriously don’t- or if you do, let the Wookiee couch win. (via)

Sofa with LCD Monitors in the Armrests

Now you never have to leave the couch again- not even to get your glasses. Swiss-based Artanova makes this Athena couch with a hidden multimedia trick up it’s sleeve… or arm. Pop-up LCD monitors mean no more awkwardly balancing your iPad or laptop on the arm of the sofa. There’s an iPhone/iPad dock in there too. It also has a pair of speakers with an 8″ subwoofer too, because when a sofa costs $15,000, why not? (via thecoolgadgets)

QWERTY Keyboard Sofa Concept

Take a gander at this QWERTY couch concept design by by Zo-Loft (hmmm I wonder if they’ve ever thought about changing the name due to the pharmaceutical of the same name). Each “key” is an individual cushion, and the sofa is designed to fold flat like a sofa bed. I’m not sure how comfortable it would be as a bed, or even as a sofa since it’s not totally flat but style isn’t always comfortable. Here’s the design of the backside:

It almost reminds me of the iconic Nelson Marshmallow Sofa QWERTY Keyboard Sofa Concept (that link is to a knockoff, but you get the idea). Maybe someone can start making these sofas for geek caves everywhere- maybe even using the Marshmallow Sofa as a base? Would you sit on a keyboard couch? (via 1 design per day)

Eastpak Backpack Couch Has Lots of Pockets

Store tons of stuff in your couch with the Eastpak Sofa. It’s the backpack of couches. Sacrificing any shred of style, taste, sophistication, and perhaps dignity of the owner, this couch heavily favors the utilitarian side over looks.

However, who wouldn’t want to clear out all those various magazines, remotes, headphones, glasses, small pets, laptops, cords, and miscellaneous crap from around the couch and neatly stow them away in pockets? I count 15 pockets. Fortunately unless you live in France and feel like coughing up 2 grand you can’t buy this couch. Thank goodness. (via)

Cat Tunnel Couch

cat tunnel sofa Cat Tunnel Couch
For millions of pet owners out there, it’s time to stop the selfishness with regards to your furniture. Your furniture should be designed for everyone, not just the humans in your house. That’s the theory behind the Cat Tunnel Sofa, a couch designed for both you and your cat. Designer Seungji Mun actually built this sofa from scratch using big piece of pipe for the tunnel and foam for the cushions:

When everyone in the house can enjoy the furniture, everyone’s happy. Except maybe the dog- but he does have his own rocking chair, so no right to complain there.
