Hollow Bible Flask: Just Make Sure You Don’t Bring It to Church

Hollow Bible Flask

In times of need, don’t turn to the bottle. Turn to friends, family, your significant other, or to your bible. After having a good talk, you can now turn to your other bible–the one that’s hollow in the middle. It’s hollow for a reason–a very good reason–because that’s where a six-ounce flask lies instead of, well, the pages of a bible.

It conceals that flask better than any bag or jacket can. The Hollow Bible flask is available online for $65.

Boeing’s Black is a Self-Destructing Smartphone

Boeing Black Phone

Boeing has a top-secret phone in the works, and unfortunately it’s going to stay top-secret until its completion because it’s only going to be sold to government agencies. Dubbed as “Black,” it’s a smartphone that has a self-destruct feature when it’s tampered with, so the secrets and data it holds will remain a secret forever.

Boeing’s Bruce Olcott explains that the phone “will be sold primarily to government agencies and companies engaged in contractual activities with those agencies that are related to defense and homeland security. The device will be marketed and sold in a manner such that low-level technical and operational information about the product will not be provided to the general public.”

The phone will reportedly come with dual SIM card slots, a removable battery, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities. The phone will be able to operate on the GSM, WCDMA and LTE networks.

Covert Spy Coin Completely Conceals Your Micro SD Card

Micro SD Card Covert Spy Coin

You don’t have to be a spy to find some use for this covert spy coin. They’re different from most other concealed storage containers because they really look and feel like the real thing. The reason for that is because they are made from actual currency. They’re hand-machined from existing coins to create the secret interior compartment. There’s only enough space inside to fit a micro SD card or anything else that’s as tiny as these memory cards.

Once the card is inside, just place the other side of the coin on top and press shut. It comes with a special opening tool that you’re supposed to use to open the coin. Without this tool, you won’t be able to open it.

Pretty neat, isn’t it? Just remember to keep it separate from your other coins for obvious reasons.

Teddy Sitter Keeps One Eye On Your Kids, and Another On Your Sitter

Teddy Sitter

Even the most hands-on parents leave their kids with the sitter sometimes, and that’s where gadgets like the Teddy Sitter comes in. It looks like a regular brown teddy bear that you can find in most toy stores, except that it’s got a large and shiny beacon-like nose where I assume the camera and sensors are located. Because while the Teddy Sitter looks like a toy, it most definitely is much more than just that.

It’s meant to double as a babysitter for your kids, but I think it’s always safest to get a human to do that job. But for your peace of mind, the Teddy Sitter lets on-the-go or absentee parents monitor what’s happening at home in a truly novel way.

The Teddy Sitter is programmed to do all sorts of fun and educational activities with your kids. It can tell bedtime stories, jokes, sing songs, or play MP3 files of your kids’ favorite tunes. It also functions as a nightlight and alarm clock. The mobile app that it comes with definitely adds to the Teddy Sitter’s features, specifically the ones that lets parents keep a closer eye on their kids, even when they’re far away from home.

Aside from taking photos and sending it to you, the bear can also measure the room temperature and humidity levels, should you ever need that information. You’ll also be able to send messages (and have your kids respond to you) through the bear, although perhaps a phone would be more appropriate.

The project is currently up for funding on Indiegogo, where you can get one for €100 (~$132 USD).

New York artist fashions dead drop from dying hardware, mounts DVD burner in city wall

New York artist fashions dead drop from dying hardware, mounts DVD burner in city wall

The optical drive may be making its exit in the world of personal computing, but at least it seems to still have a place in artistic architecture. Aram Bartholl -- the man behind New York City's infamous USB dead drops -- has installed a DVD burner into the side of the Museum of the Moving Image to promote HOT, an art exhibition described as "a group show about video that is not video." Passersby who pop in a blank DVD-R will be rewarded with a digital copy of the show and the satisfaction of finally having something to do with their aging stash of unused optical media. Just how do you install PC hardware in a museum wall? Drill an enormous hole, of course -- check out a video of the installation for yourself after the break.
