Microsoft’s Packaging and Content Design Team (PAC) is looking for a dynamic and passionate designer with 5 – 10 years of professional experience in packaging, graphic and user-centric design. The PAC Design Team delivers the packaging vision and strategy for our Modern Work, Life and Intelligent Edge devices including global product lines such as Surface, Xbox, Hololens, Microsoft Personal Computing accessories as well as Windows and Office software. Primary Responsibilities

The key to success will be a fundamental understanding of structural packaging design, consumer UX, brand strategy, retail, and storytelling. This position is will require a hands-on, collaborative person who can effectively prioritize in a fast-moving environment and ideate, create and communicate design intent clearly and persuasively to a diverse group of stakeholders. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and the ability to gracefully present and discuss our solutions with partners and senior leadership is important.

Candidates will also be creating robust presentations for both internal and external use, including rich visual presentations, narrative scripts, video and team materials, which are crucial components in shaping our packaging and team narratives.

Requirements

• Experience in basic graphic design principals (typography, composition, scale, color theory, etc.) and knowledge of how those principles work together

• Ideate, visualize, and develop design proposals for colors, materials, and finishes for Tesla designs.
• Develop digital and physical CMF presentations that show a future vision for Tesla designs.
• Collaborate and strategize with cross functional teams, including design and manufacturing, to implement production of final CMF designs.
• Analyze and approve color, materials, and finishes for all vehicle exterior and interior surfaces.
• Guide design execution of colors, materials, and finishes for both prototype and production vehicles.
• Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors. Includes identifying new resources for materials to ensure innovative designs.
• Independently source and maintain a comprehensive internal library of inspirational, advanced, and relevant materials and finishes.
• Manage design intent through color tuning and material mastering all commodities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Textile Design, Color and Material Design, or the equivalent in professional experience with evidence of exceptional ability.
• 4+ years of CMF experience, preferably within the automotive OEM space.
• Must have demonstrable technical knowledge of mass production, manufacturing processes, and materials.
• Demonstrate high color acuity and ability to pass the Munsell Hue Color Test with a perfect score.
• Excellent at creating and maintaining cross-functional working relationships.
• Exceptional visual, communication, and presentation skills.
• Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office.
• Must be self-motivated, adaptable, flexible, and able to manage multiple parallel-path projects.
• Demonstrate an ability to deliver successful designs under tight timing constraints and provide examples of such scenarios throughout career.

Requirements

This position requires:
• You are pursuing a degree in Industrial Design and have completed at least 3 years of study or you are a recent grad
• Excellent conceptualization and sketching skills
• World class form giving ability
• A hands-on approach, comfortable prototyping and working in a workshop
• Great story-telling: the ability to communicate your design visions to your fellow team members and to clients
• Some experience in preparing, executing and interpreting generative research
• Expert-level knowledge of 2D illustration (Adobe Creative Suite) and 3D CAD software (Rhino & Solidworks preferred)
• Understanding of materials, plastic and metal production processes, quality control and other techniques for manufacturing
